Stopped by early last night at 9. Place Was SLOW,there was a bunch of Koreans partying in the booths but that was it. Saw the regulars Tammy,Liz and Vicky.Was planning on sitting with Lisa,but didn't see her. Sat down in various booths and played video games and watched TV. The only one who approached me was Liz and I told her I didn't want any company. She told me when she was working at another bar she got busted by the cops and was on some kind of probation period for 1 1/2 years. So now that its over she wants me to take her down so she can clear name and apply to become a citizen. Anybody know which specific office to go to do do this?

Anybody know which specific office to go to do do this?I think it is in the court if she was to get her record expunged after the the probation, you can check also if she had a probation officer, or if she had to report in at some point during here probation.I am thinking that these come under the Department of Safety or the Adult Client Services Hopefully when she got probation they said her record would be cleared. It's the Records division for the Department of Criminal Justice or something like that. Same place you would go for fingerprinting(other than when you are being put into the system for an arrest). If it is the same as a year or so ago, you enter from the King street side and it should be the room to your immediate left. She probably has to file an application to get her record expunged and will most likely have to wait another few months before it the records are destroyed.

That sounds fishy. When there were raids at other bars (Korean) the cops only arrest the girls that were doing illegal activities, they do not arrrest all the girls in the bar.
If you want the real story give me her name, I have friends (wg) working in the bars that will give me the details.

Expungements can only occur if there was no conviction.This should be clarified -- an expungement CAN also be obtained where a person charged with a crime makes a DAG (Deferred Acceptance of Guilt) or DANC (Deferred Acceptance of No Contest), essentially pleading guilty or not putting up a defense. In a DAG/DANC, the defendant is on probation for a limited period of time (typically 6 mos.-1 yr.), and at the end of the period if the defendant has not further violations, the charge is dismissed. One year after the dismissal, they can apply to expunge the record.
As such, I would suspect that the woman in question probably had a DAG/DANC, as it is fairly common. In a practical sense, this doesn't make her "innocent" -- but rather that she received a free pass for her first criminal charge.

I kind of think that enforcement will be hard to do and most of the bars will just ignore it. IMHO

Although I don't smoke, I don't agree with it. It should be up to the owner if they want to ban smoking in their establishment. I think the owners will have to enforce it because fines are involved and I also think that the bar traffic will slow down.

I'm all for it. I've had immediate family members die from lung cancer and grew up with second hand smoke. I know it's probably not politically correct to ban things that aren't illegal, but fuck... Smoking harms more than just the person doing it. I know you can say the same about alcohol in a sense, but it is the result of drinking, not the process itself that kills.
Anyway, I feel pretty strongly about it. How cool would it be to go to a bar, and not come out smelling like smoke?

I'm for the smoking ban. Some days, I can't handle the smoke at the bars and just head home early. Those days, the smoke gives me headaches and sometimes makes me nauseated. The worst thing is all those guys smoking cigars in the bars.
As a non-smoker, I think it's a good idea. The stinky smokers should have the right to smoke in locations where their smoke does not directly affect non-smokers, but in an enclosed area, their smoking compels non-smokers to inhale carcinogenic chemicals.

Like most people, I don't smoke. I'm all for the ban at restaurants and the workplace, but at the bars? As much as I don't like the smell, you should know that people who drink tend to smoke too. You go to a bar to relax and smokers smoke to relax. If you want a drink and not want to breathe the smoke, go to a restaurant with a bar. I heard that there are loop holes in the ban. I know of some places that know about it and will change to accommodate so don't be surprised if some of your usual bars change.

PWI have sat with Laura about 2 months back. I was stopping by Misty one afternoon to see if Rose was working but she was not. On the way out a noticed a cutie outside of the cache door so i said what the hell. I had never been to cache before thinking that it was full of older women.
Anyway we went to the back booth and after 2 drinks + $ I got a pretty good CBJ from her. She gave me a lot of bs saying it was at least $$ for BJ and $$$ to go to the room. Although I don't smoke, I don't agree with it. It should be up to the owner if they want to ban smoking in their establishment. I think the owners will have to enforce it because fines are involved and I also think that the bar traffic will slow down.

I refuse to impose my morals on someone else who may enjoy having a cigarette to accompany his meal, drink, or girl.
As for the girls in Waikiki and elsewhere in that island paradise (or reasonable substitute on this earthly realm), you all have some of the hottest selections I've seen: Thai, Chinese, Korean, Viet, Lao, and even the occasional Euro, black, and white. It's great here in DC-Maryland-Virginia, but you all ain't got it bad either.
[Full disclosure: I'm located stateside but visit Waikiki often enough. When there, I enjoy visiting various clubs and the like. Just be careful. Some folks may wanna beef with you... I was at a coffee shop yesterday and a girl was smoking outside at a table near the door. Another customer outside got all up in her shit telling her to put it out. I thought he and her boyfriend were gonna fight, but you could kind of tell her bf wasn't a fan of her smoking either.
Anyway, I've seen a couple of other heated situations besides this one since the smoking ban.
To be honest, while I wouldn't be an ass about it, I would speak up as well if someone were smoking near me in or within 20' of a public entrance (which is now the law).
I can count on TWO hands the number of close relatives (including mom & dad) whom have died from smoking related illnesses (cancer, emphysema, assorted respiratory difficulties, etc.)
Anyway, sorry for the lecture, but, just be careful...

I would disagree with your stance on smoking. By allowing smoking, you are allowing Smokers to decide if you are welcome or not. If you allow it, some people may tolerate it, because they just don't get the consequences. But the reality is, it's similar to having someone popping a drug in your drink/food or sticking a needle in your arm. They are shortening your life without your consent.
I have seen enough people die from smoking, but they did so voluntarily. Just don't force me to put up with it and face the same consequences in a public shared space.
I don't think this is a case of forcing one's morals. It's more similar to banning someone from having sex on the table next to you in the restaurant, not banning an AMP. I have a problem with banning AMP's, since it's your choice in a private room. I can understand banning people from having sex at the table in a restaurant. Would I personally object .. no; lol! I'm sure others might be offended though. I can understand drawing a line. I don't have a problem with someone smoking in their own home, again, their choice in a private room. If they set up a completely enclosed/sealed room, then that would be fine. This smoking side and non-smoking side with air freely drifting through was nonsense.

I also agree with the above. Seeing a loved one die is never easy and unfortunately due to the nature of tobacco product related health complications, the death is rarely quick. It is often slow, brutal and ugly. As someone mentioned prior, smokers don't give us non-smokers a choice when they smoke in public. To make a board-related analogy, it would be like someone having sex in a public area and you catch the STD. All the drawbacks with none of the pleasure. My attitude is: "Why should I have to suffer for your friggen addiction/inability to deal problems."

The second point was --- and this is important to bear in mind --- we do not have a right to be in a private business establishment (such as a restaurant). We are there as patrons (i.e., guests). The owner can ask us to leave, is he wishes. If we wish to enter an establishment, we do so with the clear understanding that some elements of the environment may not be to our liking. This is entirely different someone "imposing" their smoke upon us. We chose to enter the establishment, and we can opt to leave (or even NOT go in the first place). We are not required to be at the establishment, which is different from, say, a government office such as the Division of Motor Vehicles or a courtroom. (Such places should absolutely be smoke-free zones.)
Finally, I am very uncomfortable with unelected bureaucrats and other pointy-headed know-nothings determining for me what is best for me. In a free society such as ours, we have a right to do things to ourselves and patronize environments that may not be healthy for us. But, with that "freedom to be stupid" also comes a responsibility to bear the consequences of our actions. If we want cradle-to-grave oversight of our lives, then we're probably (...correction: definitely) living in the wrong country. We should move to...where? Cuba? France? Sweden?...if we want to surrender our freedoms in this manner. But as for me, I will never order someone who's smoking in a private establishment to put his butt out. If I don't like his cigarette/cigar/weed, then I'll opt to go elsewhere. But I get to make that choice. The smoker doesn't decide it for me.

I have brought more friends to kb/vb's as a result of the smoking laws. Who in the world wants to have that frickin smell in your clothes when you go home?

That said, an owner should be allowed to decide whether or not his/her place of business should be "Smoking" or "Non-Smoking." No one has offered a valid reason why the owner of an establishment shouldn't be allowed to decide which business model works best for his establishment (...and excuses like "I don't want to breath smoke" or "It's unhealthy" don't cut it). What gives a non-smoking individual the right to impose his presence on a group of smokers who are gathered together, of their own free will, at a place that has decided to allow smoking? If ya don't like a smokey environment in a particular establishment, don't patronize it! No one has a "right" to be there. It's just that simple, and everyone can live happily ever after.
How much of our liberties are we willing to relinquish...all based, of course, on what the State feels is in our best interests? What next --- the State deciding that folks can't smoke in their own homes or in their own cars (like Portland, Maine, just did) if children are present?
Smoking is not one of my vices; social drinking is (assuming one considers social drinking to be a vice). These actions by the State always seem to be great ideas...until the actions impact one's own vices or habits or hobbies. The free market is generally the best check on bad activities such as smoking. Take smoking on airlines, for example. True, the federal government eventually outlawed it on all flights, but some airline companies (such as Northwest) were way ahead of the Feds by banning it on all of their flights before the government took any action. As a result of their move, Northwest saw an upswing in the number of customers that flew on their planes.
Let me pose the question this way: Do you like the fact that most states outlaw the activity (i.e., mongering) to which this database is dedicated? Wouldn't you rather the government allow us to engage in the hobby freely? (And, yes, I can anticipate your reply: "Mongering doesn't impose itself on anyone like smoking does." You & I may agree on that, but someone else can probably make the case that it does.)

Damn!). And the clinking of glasses distracts me, too.
I sit with Christy sometimes, and she's offered to take me upstairs. But, I'm usually too broke. If it's a lot quieter than downstairs, I might like it. Expensive, though. She asked for $$$, and so did another girl I sat with once, a while ago.
I usually go to AMPs for the privacy (and the quiet - I go really late), but I really like Christy, and I'm thinking about spending my next play money on her.

What gives a non-smoking individual the right to impose his presence on a group of smokers who are gathered together, of their own free will, at a place that has decided to allow smoking? If ya don't like a smokey environment in a particular establishment, don't patronize it! No one has a "right" to be there. It's just that simple, and everyone can live happily ever after.
How much of our liberties are we willing to relinquish...all based, of course, on what the State feels is in our best interests? What next --- the State deciding that folks can't smoke in their own homes or in their own cars (like Portland, Maine, just did) if children are present?
Smoking is not one of my vices; social drinking is (assuming one considers social drinking to be a vice). These actions by the State always seem to be great ideas...until the actions impact one's own vices or habits or hobbies. The free market is generally the best check on bad activities such as smoking. Take smoking on airlines, for example. True, the federal government eventually outlawed it on all flights, but some airline companies (such as Northwest) were way ahead of the Feds by banning it on all of their flights before the government took any action. As a result of their move, Northwest saw an upswing in the number of customers that flew on their planes.
Let me pose the question this way: Do you like the fact that most states outlaw the activity (i.e., mongering) to which this database is dedicated? Wouldn't you rather the government allow us to engage in the hobby freely? (And, yes, I can anticipate your reply: "Mongering doesn't impose itself on anyone like smoking does." You & I may agree on that, but someone else can probably make the case that it does.)
I've had my say; can't say anything more that'll make the point clearer. If anyone else wants to dispute or add, fine. I'm going back to discussing the "hobby." (However, football would be nice, too. ;))

Businesses in Hawaii really do not have a frickin choice, it's either comply with the new law or be subject to fines and penalties. And, no businesses, regardless of how much they object with a law will want to pay daily fines and penalties. I, for one, am ecstatic over Hawaii being the 14th state in the union to implement such a comprehensive law. Did you know 85% of the registered voters in Hawaii passed the law, that's a pretty overwhelming majority. Smoker's could have had there say but they must have been out on a smoke break during voting hours.

It's just like the hostess clubs in Japan. They are there to talk, with minimal touching. Your best bet is to use any "Nampa" skills that you have and meet the girls outside of work, if you are looking for action. Not easy to do. You also need Japanese language skills, or the conversations will be a problem. Only a few of the girls can hold an hours worth of conversation in english. It's pricey for what you get. I would say the main benefit for locals at these Japanese hostess bars, is if you are studying the language and want to have live practice.
There are 3 Japanese hostess clubs that I am aware of, and I'm sure there's more that I'm not aware of. You get much more action in a Korean or Viet bar.
