Just a question...if you don't have a car, what type of action can you expect downtown if you are on foot? Daytime, I never go downtown at night.
If a daytime customer doesn't have a vehicle, streetwalkers may use downtown apartments or rooms, or occasionally a video business on Hotel Street. However, someone inexperienced with the downtown scene should be very careful about that type of situation.

As for the study I mentioned, I've been trying to find it. In fact, I've spent several hours over the last few days googling, browsing CDC, NIH, NRC, and a variety of other sites, including the safe sex sections of this board and WSG. I've found all kinds of things, but nothing that points to the specific study I described in my earlier post.

As best I can recall, I'm pretty sure that what I read was a newspaper article in The Washington Post about this study and interviewing one of the authors. This had to have been at least 5 years ago, and probably longer. Given that this study didn't go along with the "party line" I guess it's not surprising that it would be difficult to find now. I'm beginning to have more sympathy for all the conspiracy theoritsts!

I do recall pretty clearly that the study's conclusions were that HIV prevalence among sex workers closely tracked IV drug abuse. Those providers who used IV drugs, or had sex partners who used them, were the most likely to have HIV. Thus, the farther up the "pecking order" among providers, and the further they got from IV drug abuse, the lower the HIV prevalence. There have been multiple other studies that have shown the same results.

While I was unable to find a link or a reference to that particular study, I did find a few interesting links that are related to the discussion. The most interesting one is reprint of an article about "Whatever Happened to AIDS and Straight Men?" It summarizes a number of studies and articles related to HIV risk of various activities including prostitution. It's a bit long, but well worth the effort of reading it:

A 21-year-old Waimanalo man is accused of beating and sexually assaulting two women in separate incidents this year after picking them up near Chinatown and driving them to Kailua.

John Veikoso was charged Sunday with four counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, and two counts of kidnapping. His bail was set at $2 million. He made his initial court appearance yesterday.

Veikoso is accused of picking up the two women in the early hours of Jan. 18 and Feb. 7, driving them to Kailua, and beating them before sexually assaulting them.

The victim of the alleged January assault described herself as a prostitute, while the second woman said she accepted a ride from Veikoso about 4 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Pali Longs Drugs Store while she waited for her boyfriend.

In the Jan. 18 case, a 23-year-old woman told police she was working as a prostitute at Pali Highway and South Kuakini Street when she was approached by a man in a pickup truck. They agreed to have sex for $200 and the woman got into the truck, according to a police affidavit.

The driver, identified in the affidavit as Veikoso, drove north on Nu'uanu and told the woman that his mother was a "hooker" and that his passenger "won't be doing this again," the affidavit said. The woman said Veikoso punched her several times as the truck speeded on Pali Highway.

As she was being assaulted, the affidavit said, she was either pushed or she fell out of the truck's window and suffered a broken collarbone and other injuries. The woman tried to flag down passing motorists, but she said Veikoso grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back to his vehicle.

He continued to beat her until they wound up at Maunawili Elementary School, where Veikoso sexually assaulted the woman, the affidavit said.

Later, the affidavit said, Veikoso told her that she could leave and that she was "lucky because I usually don't let people leave."

The woman managed to flag down a motorist who took her to a nearby convenience store. She asked the man if he would go back to the school and get her cell phone from the man who sexually assaulted her, and he agreed.

When he got to the school, the Mustang was still in the lot and the man wrote down the license plate number and gave it to the woman. Police were notified and Veikoso arrested at 6:20 a.m. Saturday at his home on Flamingo Street in Waimanalo.

While in custody, Veikoso was booked in connection with the January assault after that victim identified him in a photo lineup, police said.

Yes, still waiting for the welcome return of Kris, definitely an ATF. I haven't seen her downtown during either the daytime or at night. Bus Stop Girl seems to now be working more often in another area (Keeaumoku/Makaloa). Maybe business is better for her there with less streetwalker competition, or perhaps she had a geographic restriction placed upon her (don't know, just speculating). Rocky is still around -- recently saw her working downtown several times. I was told that Melissa had to go to the hospital, but I don't know whether that's true.

Word is that the first girl who climbed out of the window of the truck and broke her collar bone is Lee / Bree. She is the SW that was taken to Tripler. Her photo's have been posted in the past.

Last month, I reported upon Sandy, a mature downtown provider (see message #1391 in this thread). Although my report was favorable, it was based on only one session with her. As we all know, sometimes the quality of a provider's service can significantly vary from session to session. Fortunately, that hasn't happened to me with Sandy. Since my original report about her, I've been with her two more times, and each time was thoroughly enjoyable. Her oral service is especially pleasurable, so if oral expert Kim isn't available on a particular day, Sandy could be a very good second choice for that activity. As I said in my prior report, Sandy can sometimes be found on the mauka side of North Kukui Street in the section between Maunakea Street and Hosoi Garden Mortuary, and on the section of Maunakea Street between North Kukui Street and Zippy's. She works both at night and during the daytime.

On the makai side of North Kukui Street, near Aala Street, I met a mature and relatively intelligent haole woman named Lynn. Previously I had seen her in that area a few times, but she was so low-key that I wasn't sure if she was a provider. She seems to be in her forties, has a medium build, dresses in regular clothing, and looks fairly nice for a woman of her age. Lynn was friendly and provided me with a satisfying full-service session. However, she admittedly has a mental health issue. That had no effect on her service, but afterward I noticed some indications of it. So just be aware of that if you happen to meet her, and make sure that she's in a good mood before going with her.

Two of them were located near the makai/Diamond Head corner of North Kukui Street and Aala Street, and one was located near the mauka/Diamond Head corner of those same streets. They were obviously overdressed for that "bargain bin" area, especially for the daytime, and I didn't recall seeing any of them working in that area before. On a different forum, another downtown hobbyist reported seeing the female officers and also seeing two vans parked nearby to transport anyone who was arrested.

Recently met a “new” downtown arrival named Heather. She said that she's worked downtown before, but that she had been spending some time away from the downtown scene. Both during the day and at night, she sometimes has been available on the Diamond Head side of the Smith Street block between North Pauahi Street and North Beretania Street. She also occasionally may be found on the Diamond Head side of the Maunakea Street block between North Pauahi and North Beretania. Heather is an older haole lady who appears to be in her forties. She usually wears eyeglasses, has a light complexion and reddish-brown hair, and has a somewhat chubby build. She gives satisfying oral service and full service in my experience, and seems to have a nice personality. Although she's definitely not a young beauty, she could be a good choice for street hobbyists looking for a relaxed and no-problems date with a polite mature provider who knows how to please a man.

Early this morning (Saturday), while it was still dark, a man was apparently murdered by gunfire in the area near the intersection of River Street and North Pauahi Street. Although I didn't witness the shooting (thank goodness), I soon observed police cars zooming by, other police cars blocking entrances to River Street and North Pauahi Street, and an officer with a shotgun questioning some bystanders. Then even more police vehicles arrived and the crime scene tape was put up. On the news it was reported that the police are seeking three suspects who raced away in a car after the shooting. Their weapons were reported to be a shotgun and a rifle, possibly an assault rifle. So remember, brothers, be especially alert and careful if you happen to be in that part of town, which has a substantial amount of drug activity.

On a more happy note, two "blast from the past" providers have recently returned to the downtown scene after long absences.

Joelle (also called Jo) is a blond haole provider who has come back to Honolulu after an extended stay on the mainland. Previously I reviewed her in a report posted in June of 2007, which is still on the forum. Joelle appears to be in her middle or late twenties. She's an oral expert, in my opinion, and full service is also available.

Michelle, a mature haole provider who is recovering from surgery on her back, is now usually walking with a cart for back support. However, in my experience her oral service is still as excellent as it was before. Previously I reviewed Michelle in a report posted in November of 2008, which is still on the forum.
