Yes, but IMHO the REAL Club Rose was when they were where Jazz Minds is now, back in the 80's. It was a Korean strip bar, so you could enjoy strippers, or go in the back tables with the Korean hostesses for $20 drinks and be made to pop one way or another. Hostess drinks were only $5 and 10, so if you buy 4 $10 drinks at a regular table you could instead go in back for 2 $20's and get heavy action. Then she said the date would be longer and much more enjoyable if we could smoke marijuana beforehand, and asked for some advance cash for the purchase. Foolishly, I gave it to her. Yet when I started to walk with her, she said with a smile to "wait here" because the dealer wouldn't sell if a stranger was present. So, I waited. And then waited some more. And continued waiting, until I finally realized that she wasn't returning for our dream date, LOL. I went looking for her in the surrounding area, but never saw her again on that night or on any subsequent Hotel Street visit. Moral of the story: Never give a hooker (or purported hooker), especially one you don't already know, any cash in advance.
(2) Bath House Crooks.
Hotel Street used to have a few brothels known as bath houses, to which streetwalkers could take customers. One night on the Hotel Street block between Nuuanu Avenue and Smith Street, I met a very beautiful young woman who said she was from California and on a working visit to Honolulu. It didn't take much convincing for me to accept her invitation for a bath house date. The room to which she took me had one wall that was partially covered by large drapes, which unknown to me concealed a door in that wall. The provider suggested that I leave my clothes on a chair near the draped portion of that wall (and within reaching distance of the hidden door), and after paying her I stupidly left my wallet in my pants on that chair. For example, once when I was in a position where I could look toward the chair, the provider distracted me by sexily jiggling her bare breasts. After the date, when I was dressing, I happened to open my wallet and saw that all my remaining cash (about $80) was gone. I started raising a ruckus, and through the hidden door a very big and tough bouncer promptly walked into the room. He and the provider denied any knowledge of what happened to the cash that disappeared from my wallet, and the bouncer menacingly warned me to leave and not make any trouble. I wasn't going to call the police because I had been committing a crime myself by paying a prostitute for sex. So, I lost about $80. Moral of the story: Always look behind drapes in an unfamiliar room, and never leave your wallet where someone could easily access it.
(3) Dinnertime Deceivers.
After several successful dates with one of the cutest downtown streetwalkers I ever met, her boyfriend (who looked similar to Jesus) politely asked me for $20 in advance of another date with his girlfriend so that he could (supposedly) buy them dinner while she was on the date. After a date in a dimly-lit Hotel Street video booth, I was ready to pull up my pants and leave. However, the pretty little provider told me that she liked me and found me interesting, and asked me to stay with her in the booth for a while so that we could talk. She must have been familiar with the male ego (smile). While we talked, I was in a seat and she was on the floor at my feet. My pants, with my wallet in a back pocket, were around my feet. This charmer was such a proficient pickpocket that without me ever noticing, she was able to remove my wallet from my pants pocket, take cash out of the wallet, and return the wallet to my pants pocket. After I eventually left and was walking down Hotel Street, I opened my wallet to buy a soda and saw that my cash was almost all gone (she left a few bucks inside). At least she didn't steal my credit card and bank card. Moral of the story: A downtown hooker who's already been paid but claims that she wants to spend extra time with you for free may have an ulterior motive, so make sure to always keep your wallet safe.

Any longtime downtown mongers remember the big ferocious dragon in the photos below? Your tax dollars partially paid for it. The dragon was placed near the Kukui Street / Nuuanu Avenue intersection about thirteen years ago to try to "ward off evil spirits," including the naughty streetwalkers who were more frequent and visible in the area at that time. The Clouds, Hula's, Hamburger Mary's were the cleanest places with a woman's touch and nobody bother. That area along Kuhio Avenue by the old Kuhio Theatre (saw my first 007 James Bond movie there, "Goldfinger") had good / respectable gay restaurants and shops until people start trying to get them out because of only that reason. She laughed, we sat together watched the movie laughed, we talked more outside after the movie, and she asked me if I drink? AHHH yea, so went my old surf wagon, she came over drove over to the zoo backside parked, drank, lit a few, we were flying. My friend left bc bc he going get busted, I always went home very late bc of work, so no one expecting me back. Easy to recline, we made out like crazy. Then, why I always loved older, HJ and she grabbed my hand rubbed it on her VJ, I panicked. She laughed asked if my 1st time, I said no, but I kinda do not know much cause 1st few was HS daze so no. She laughed, my 1st FIV, showed me the way of the Jedi. Just when I thought damn! Light from HPD, he yelled get out of here! Scared so lost it, she laughed again. Told me to follow them, her friend dropped her off just up the road by McCully Chop Sui, she lived by the Boys and Girls Club. Went upstairs, straight to her bed, and suck and fkd until we passed out. Not my first time, but my 1st time like being schooled in the ways of the what, ate her like she said I was starving, 1st for a lot of 69, FIV 3 digits, CIMWS, CG RCG, K9 and flat K9, scissors, and some that hard to describe. She was a freak, became why I always loved older bc I had the notion they were always horny which was true IF you met the right one. Learned later (yea I got her #) and was I guess my 1st FWB too, she was 12 yrs older than me, was fun until she moved for her work. Lost touch, but always remembered those times and practiced practiced. We met by chance at a convention held in Vegas, she came up to me after we were done with our conference, I recognized her immediately. We went to get a bite to eat and talked learned about our lives, since she was divorced, drink, gambled, more drinking, closed the crap table bc she wanted to learn and I never go past one without playing. Took her to my room, Staying at the MGM, that was a fun week, convention, enjoyed LV with Jas, eat drink gamble fkd our brains out. She stayed with me the last 4 days when she chkd out of hers, luckily I could upgrade bc our Co. Clients. We said our goodbyes, enjoyed when we both traveled she lived in Seattle, until old age and the Big C got to her, sad. Good times. Learned the how to from Jas, guess how I got that rep. From friends and couple of my exes who talked way too much 411. That is another story about my Ex wife and her Supervisor (did not know who she was until she told me), that is a later story if I remember.

Anyone remember Hush Lounge on Niu St. In Waikiki back in the late 2000's? The owner was Ylisha (sp?) who now owns a chain of tea shops on the island. She had a lot of nice looking girls working for her no matter which business / bar she ran. Don't know if any of her workers offered play or anything but they were always super attractive.

That section of Kamaile Street disappeared when they built the Walmart Super Block. Masu's then moved to the corner of Liliha and Kuakini Street until they closed at that location. They got more and more busy since the quarantine, took 4-5 weeks off in April, was so happy when they got back. The old places not around anymore, taste different, and so much change. Remember going to get a bowl of saimin on the side street by the Chinatown mkt. For. 50 cents, then bring home roast pork and char sui bc did good on the table at Cebu Pool Hall. Grandpa and his friends use to have the run of the place, even took me for $18 back in the early cowboy days. Back to Char sui, they retired and a couple of the boys learned and opened a shop close to Cindys and was ok, they went through a lot of bs and from what I heard protection issues. Yea, Kayas was across the street and got a lot of my stuff there. The good ole days.

Those days and nowadays they never take care of the legals in order to preclude such fighting or infighting especially amongst relatives and business partners. And no get me wrong again, but even if you think the legals are ironclad, can still challenge it on other grounds too numerous to mention here.
I know one family had large farming acreage and when the parents when pass on, the kids when fight for the properties (just like the Fongs when fight for Market City and Kahaluu properties) and in the end, only the lawyers when make out. One kid now homeless and became mentally disturbed due to alcoholism and the odda two when get stuck with having to clean the properties of hazardous waste and materials, eventually going broke and in bankruptcy court. Life is a batch.

This place was pretty solid with the providers they've had there over the years. I remember a few years back they had a young one named Sky. She was fun to be with. Also had memories there with Sugar, Tera, Paula, Connie, etc. The names go on and on, but the place is surely missed by many.

That's the way I remember it. Long time ago.Yes Ichiban had it's own door inside the parking garage, on the Makai wall of the lot. There was another door on the Ewa wall that led directly into a KB might have been called Business.
That building had the perfect set up for me. Could drink at Club Napa Valley till 4 am, then walk around the corner (still in the same building, same floor) to Ichiban and see Kelly or Hana.

The former location of Ace, Top Spa, Perfect 10 and Golden Butterfly is now reformed as the Hanmi Presbyterian Church of Hawaii. Praise the Lord!
The prior location for Crystal Healing Massage and Crystal Healing Spa is locked and appears to be vacant. However, the Crystal Healing name and phone number are still slightly visible outside if viewed closely, and ironically, Crystal Healing is still listed on the directory inside the Wong building. On a personal note, I have to admit that it was an emotional experience for me to visit that location, where I had found so much enjoyment for so many years with so many wonderful providers.
The previous location for Hawaii Ocean Spa and Q2 is now designated as the "Signs Today Work Studio," a business that apparently makes signs, banners, stickers, business cards, etc.
Second Floor:
The suite that used to contain Chi and then Golden Spa is locked and seems to be vacant.
The former location for Hayaku looks inhabited, and has no outside business signage. When I passed by, only the screen door was shut (not the interior door), lights were on, kitchen equipment was visible, and various pairs of shoes were placed on the floor near the entrance. I almost felt like knocking on the screen door and politely asking if Candy was there, but of course I didn't.
The prior location of Gogo Spa and Oriental may now be a residence. I observed a guy who might have been Micronesian go to the door and open it, enter with food, and then close the door. There were various pairs of shoes on the interior floor close to the door.
Third Floor:
The past location of Hana Massage, Princess, Cypress and Sun Spa may also now be a residence. There was no business name outside, and many shoes on the floor near the interior entrance.
As I toured the building, I saw only two people: the above-mentioned guy with the food, and another guy (who may have also been Micronesian) sitting in a chair near the Diamond Head staircase on the second floor.

Then went to I think Hula Hands on the 2nd floor of CC. Then I found Tokyo Spa on Kona and I was hooked. Before then I was a regular at Exotic Nights but that went away too. Had some great times there and at Saigon Passion on Kapiolani with the parking in the back on Makaloa. There was also this club on King Street that changed names as many time as ladies change shoes. Had this Korean there that must have had almost 1" long nipples. Then who can forget Arirang.
I also miss the food. As a youngster I ate 25 cent hamburgers at the Corner Store somewhere behind the street Blue Spa is on. I still remember clearly the Fried Saimin at Bowling City, oh and the Teri Beef at Washington Saimin on King Street. Then there was Chunky's Drive Inn before the Islander games, buying the best dry boiled peanuts before going into the termite palace, then inside the call or "Hot Dogs, Peanuts, Coooooold Bea". So many things have disappeared. Sorry to you young uns who missed so much of those times.
Thinking about all my travels to SEA and how much it has changed there. I mean just look at Angeles City and Nana Plaza. There are just shells of the glorious days. I think when I first went to Angeles bar fine was 400 peso (showing my age), and if you wanted to sleep alone you practically had to shove the girl out. As I was sending out a mahalo to Cloe I realized how much I missed the past. So much has changed over the last couple decades, not to mention the great times even before that. I also miss the food. As a youngster, I ate 25 cent hamburgers at the Corner Store somewhere behind the street Blue Spa is on. I still remember clearly the Fried Saimin at Bowling City, oh and the Teri Beef at Washington Saimin on King Street. Then there was Chunky's Drive Inn before the Islander games, buying the best dry boiled peanuts before going into the termite palace, then inside the call or "Hot Dogs, Peanuts, Coooooold Bea". So many things have disappeared. Sorry to you young uns who missed so much of those times.
Thinking about all my travels to SEA and how much it has changed there. I mean just look at Angeles City and Nana Plaza. There are just shells of the glorious days. I think when I first went to Angeles bar fine was 400 peso (showing my age), and if you wanted to sleep alone you practically had to shove the girl out.
Finally for this writing, sadly even here so much change. As I wrote earlier, in the past there was so much sharing that no one hardly asked any questions. Loco, you bring back so much memories from later working in PI, Thailand, Singapore, throughout Asia. I laughed when you wrote if you wanted to sleep alone you literally had to kick the girl out. I really never have, BUT the one time I tried, tall PI from the village working in town just played koala bear when I stood up, man her leg grip was strong! Ended up playing bounce the Koala Bear till she screams. Good memories, miss PI. Why I guess I have a thing for mixed, but mostly PI mix.
Much has changed A lot, even here, where we all shared, no holds barred, share and share alike, laugh, wish each other fun but play safe. Well most times unless you get Pepsi drunk or MS Jun drunk so the gloves are off! Missing the ladies who was always good to go, Jada and Nani (RIA), Eryn OBrien man this girl could fk the crap out of you and still do msog without stopping, UTR Fit Model (sorry part of the deal) back in the day 3 Bens was expensive BUT take her out, decent dinner, drinks and dancing, she will BJJ Kyra Gracie you with her long legs and Kagels, and always Angela HOF. No matter how old she will be (I do know her real age) bc because. She was always Awesome. I will add to this later, probably more AMP, SB, VB, action, Indies and those visiting, those were so many good times. Be safe but enjoy, and as always, missing you Kapa, you the Man!

Not sure if anyone had been there but back in the late 70's there was a very popular spot located on S King St above a liquor store. From what I recall they got raided and shut down. Rumor at the time was that some of their regular patrons were some of the most influential, wealthy, powerful and politically connected members of the community. The record / appointment books were quickly confiscated probably to protect those individuals.
Had this Korean there that must have had almost 1" long nipples. Then who can forget Arirang. I also miss the food. Kuhio Grill, man that brings back so many memories with dad and Grandparents.Yeah, she make' already but her legend lives on (tell you guys about the 'hard boiled egg, cigar, give change back' acts later); I used to see Howard at Zippy's later and get him some coffee and breakfast (for old time's sake); we used to go to Kapiolani Park as kids when had the real kine horse polo games to look under the bleachers for change-sometimes found one fortune: 55 cents (5 cents for wet ling hee mui in paper package, 10 cents for hamburger (Burgerland), 55 cents pack Kools, etc.); go 50th State Fair and eat cotton candy / see the Bearded Lady, Kapiolani Park); stuff liddat. We went KG's as students for one weekly break after studying for midterms, finals, whatevers.
The quality of downtown (we called everything around there "Hotel Street" back then) SWs when really go subterranean now since back-in-the-days. Never have the amount of mahus, druggies, and kakas like now; before we (the Johns) shame and try hide but nowadays no more shame and decorum. Sometimes we get so bussup, to go Palace Saimin and get ice water, order won ton min, BBQ sticks, and moi moi little while on the table.
