A couple years ago I was working in Florida when Irma and Marie hit Florida (names? Some pointers. Get a few snacks, water and drinks. If you're at a major hotel they may serve food before and after the storm. Floridays sent their staff home to hunker down with family so service was non-existent for about 18 hours. We never lost power and we sat outside because it was nice out with the wind. The only regret was not having Diet Pepsi and our own water stash during the few hours we had to remain inside. Also, take bug spray. After the storm passes mosquitoes are bad. Probably churned up by the rain and wind.

If you are in a major hotel, you are good to go. At worst, expect a lot of rain and wind. There may be some trees down, but local governments and power companies have been proactive since the storms of '04 in trimming trees.

The storm comes and goes in a day. There may be cleanup and that may take anywhere from a few days to weeks, depending. Will it affect the hobby? The girls have to work.

Well that's a tough one! On the plus side, as of now, most forecasts seems to have Dorian becoming a strong tropical storm or maybe a category 1 hurricane, meaning not terribly significant, at least as far as these things go! On the negative side, those forecasts also seem to have it heading straight towards Central Florida. I'm on the coast, fairly close to where many of the models have Dorian making landfall. Personally, I stay put for anything that's a category 3 or less, honestly, just not worth the hassle of evacuating. I put up my storm shutters, load up on supplies and wait it out. In 45 plus years in Florida, I've never suffered anything worse than some broken tree limbs, a few lost shingles and power outage of 2 or 3 days. If Dorian hits the coast as a cat 1, it won't have much of an effect on Orlando, or the working ladies, certainly not for more than a day or so. Applying our oft stated motto of "Play safe", keep an eye on the forecasts and go from there!
