I've done fifty before. And I always end up regretting it. You made the right move bro by letting her walk. I know this conversation was stopped before, but has anyone spotted Jaime lately? Off and on over the past three years, we met.

At the beginning of March, we met for the last time. I would look for her every week, but never found her at our usual times. Finally one day, I did a FB search as she had given me her real name at some point. (No, I never gave her mine.) To my shock and sadness, a friend had posted that she had passed away from a drug overdose. I know it is no big surprise for a SW to overdose, but she was seriously trying to change as she had just birthed a baby and wanted to give the child a good life. When her baby came out, she like many mothers changed and was astonished at the love she felt for her new child. I had hoped when I no longer saw her on the streets that she had conquered her demons. But I was wrong.

Now there is a motherless child, and heroin has claimed another victim. I lost an unexpected "friend" who helped me look at street walking junkies as real women who make bad choices that leads to an addiction that over takes their lives. Oh, I will possibly still pick one up that is walking, and I don't judge anyone else who does, but when or if I do, I will try to treat them as a person.
