Maybe Newton is just there in a backup role and providing some veteran perspective for Jarrett. Certainly would not put it past Bill to do something like that.

The Patriots have nothing to lose since they sign Cam Newton. Newton was a former MVP. His peak was really high. If Newton wins the job and returns to form, the Patriots could compete for a championship. If Stidham wins the job, Belichick could cut Cam before the season starts. What does the team have to lose? Nothing. Low risk, high reward gamble. Yes, I know their health / character concerns. But that's why you can get him on a cheap deal. Plus, I hope this lights a fire under Stidham's ass to work even harder. Competition is good!.

Hoyer is veteran enough IMHO. We'll see. Let's give Cam a chance. Maybe Bill (maybe with some help from Devin McCourty) would be able to have Cam buy into the team mentality more than Ron Rivera was able to. Bill has the statue and the reputation that Cam's previous coach just didn't have.

As for Kap if you'd want him here it wouldn't be from the football perspective. Remember he was a backup QB on the pretty shitty team by the time he began kneeling. He took the 49s to the SB only couple of years earlier and since then was sliding and sliding rapidly. And now with what 3-4 years out of the game? He'd be like Tebow, a lot of drama and hype and little use on the football field.

Also if you'd read the staff his teammates were saying about Kaepernick in 2014-2015 before he began kneeling in protest at the end of 2016 you'd get very little favorable feedback on his behavior in the locker room. The guy apparently had little or no friends on the team. I remember reading words like aloof, loner, attitude, etc.

Now he's a big time symbol for sure but in no way it's due to his play on the football field. By the time he began kneeling he was on the way out of the game already. By that point the 49s would've released him at the end of the season no matter what. When he began kneeling I looked at it primarily as a career lateral.

Kaepernick should do what he set himself up to do IMHO and go into politics. He should be successful there. I'm sure if he speaks he'd get a much larger live audience than Trump did, COVID or no COVID.

Every time I think of how he mishandled Ray Rice, and the litany of errors in handling the abuse cases of NFL players, I just laugh at his policies. As for former players of the Patriots, It's not that difficult to understand. Belichick was tough and demanded the absolute best out of his players. His style of coaching meant that the players would be on their toes and it sure as hell wouldn't be loosey-goosey, but they would win games and ultimately championships. Most players likely didn't like Belichick but had the utmost respect for him because they knew he was a master at his craft. Take into account how many football players went to the Patriots and left with a huge contract because they came from the super bowl winner. Jamie Collins did it twice. Everybody complains about the amount of work you have to do in New England. The amount of discipline, attention to detail, preparedness; If they were playing in Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, San Diego, Jacksonville, Washington, New York, etc. They would have had a much easier time. And no one would remember their name, let alone hire them for a record contract.

Goodell will never be a great commissioner. His track record is wayyyy to flawed now its impossible to recover. NBA commissioner Silver within the past 5 months alone did more then Goodell did his entire tenure.

True Belichick runs the team with an iron hammer for a reason, to win. It's shown in his W / L ratio. He is basically Greg Pop of the Spurs NBA team in the NFL aspect. Both strict, hates the media, and trains their players very well.

Have always loved the game of football, never been a fan of the NFL, I've said it before & I'll say it again, I swear that if the NFLPA don't take away Goodell's dictatorship of having the last word on what punishment is handed out to who for what in the next CBA (collective bargaining agreement) in 2021 then I'll be done with football, or at least when the Belichick & Brady era is over.

TBH, Gronk def needed a year off. His body is basically half destroyed. 1 year off the field and injury prone for a 4th year pick is pretty value. I might bite my words in a few months if he pops off like his first 6 years but that's going to be hard for him with his injury prone habits.

FYI, FL is MJ allowed state. His family recently opened a few MJ business in the area so maybe that swayed him to move to FL and being with Brady def helps motivate the trade. But party life style in FL partying in MA is probably the reason he moved knowing his lifestyle.
