There has been a general decline over the past two or three years, most notably very few traveling providers visiting any more. Maybe the economy improving so other less risky jobs are available, maybe the increased awareness and enforcement by LE, but probably a combination of several factors.

A few of the local providers probably made good money last week and haven't spent it all yet. Look for a few more to show up around the end of the month when rent is due.

Yep, very true. There's really no absolute way to avoid being busted if LE is determined and resourceful, other than just not hobbying. A little vigilance, common sense, and intel gathering can greatly reduce the risk though.

When they ask for stuff, most of the providers are just looking to get free alcohol or cigarettes out of the deal. I will buy things sometimes for providers I already know fairly well, but not on a first visit. Also, when they ask you to bring condoms, it's either a red flag for the aforementioned scams, or they're very unprepared which is also an indication that the visit may not be great.
