You don't need to change your number, all you have to do is use one of those text message apps and you can change that number as many times as you need while keeping your real number private.

Don't use your personal phone number. Use a burner number from Google Voice, TextNow or one of the other apps. You can then choose a local number to communicate. You really want to be very careful on the information you share just to be safe.
