6/10/24.
Was on 101 at AA around 10 pm when a bunch of automatic fire exploded.
Turned into a car chase with dudes shooting out the windows of the car.
From SPD blotter:
Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives investigate after multiple shots were fired late Monday night in North Seattle.
Shortly after 10:00 pm, officers responded to North 101st Street and Aurora Avenue North to reports of shots fired. Police arrived, discovered property damage and shell casings.
Police investigation revealed that several suspects on foot were shooting at a dark colored SUV on North 101st Street west of Aurora Avenue North. The suspects then entered two vehicles and pursued the SUV south on Linden Avenue North while continuing to shoot.
Police recovered over 30 shell casings as well as bullet fragments from the scene. Multiple vehicles and homes were struck but there were no victims at the time of this writing. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
GVRU responded to the scene and will be leading the investigation.

Posts: 74New Pilot program coming to Aurora Ave
https://mynorthwest.com/3961698/seat...plate-readers/
"The pilot will see the installation of CCTV cameras in three high-crime neighborhoods — Aurora Avenue North, the Third Avenue downtown corridor and the Chinatown-International District (CID) — and their integration with new software into the city's "real-time crime center" (RTCC). ".
Be interesting to see how these cameras change the behavior of the John's and the young entrepreneurs out there.

My stance on this is well-known around these parts by now, but I'll reiterate that the city council had a hand in creating the current problem of the higher-rate of prostitution along Aurora. Since they repealed the loitering laws in summer of 2020, the number of SWs out there has increased along with other issues (shootings, etc). Further, repealing the laws meant that police are not able to stop and question SWs who are standing at the corners, something which they did previously. By doing that they could ID and get intelligence about what was going on out there including finding minors and those who might be trafficked. I'd argue that since the repealing of the loitering laws in 2020 the number of underage SWs out there has gone up. Several times i've been spooked for just talking to an SW who seemed too young, something which didn't happen as often along Aurora prior to 2020. Anecdotal, I know, but there do seem to be younger girls out there in the past few years. There's nobody out there checking on anybody and all of the girls and pimps know it. If the city truly wants to get a handle on all of the crazy going on along AA, then sending vice back out to target the girls will be a step. Just going after johns or so-called "exploiters" isn't doing it, they're going to have to pursue both sides if they truly want to make any kind of dent. It feels like they're blaming all of the problems happening along AA on the men, but the SWs are also a part of the issue and they should also be addressed. Most don't seem to agree with the city's view that they are victims, so shouldn't they also shoulder some of the blame? Of course they'll never completely eliminate it, but just prior to 2020 the scene out there along AA was actually pretty dead. What I don't get is how the city keeps saying that ALL sex workers are being exploited and are victims yet they aren't doing anything to actually help them.
Legalizing or decriminalizing it would be better, but we're a ways off from that.

If they reinstated the loitering law like that council member wants it would certainly make finding good deals and unicorns even more challenging if they are lighting guys up for stopping.

One thing I'd like to point out is how feminine a lot of those pimps are. Not only that appeared in this doc but pimps in general these days are very fem in my experience with them. The dude is bragging about getting hand and feet pedicures. I suspect a lot of them are on the DL.
