Sorry this happened to you Samurai. But, it's not necessarily connected to your text. My niece got a similar call. Same instructions, go to the bank, don't hang up, etc. Thankfully she works with me and when she said she had to go right now, the red flags popped up in my head. I had to convince her for like 30 minutes to hang up the phone, it's a scam. Sigh.

He then said they would ask the 50 yes or no questions over the phone for my convenance after I gave them the money. Which would be "refunded" to me after my cooperation.

Right after he said that I knew he was full of shit. I then drove to hpd headquarters in Honolulu while he was still on the line. Went right up saw a hpd officer I told him a guy was blackmailing me for being a sex offender. He told me to ignore it and hang up.
