I recently was contacted by Beckie aka Beckie Beckie saying that she was looking for some help. I haven't seen her in years and don't know her location or rates but I do have her number if someone is interested. I would go check her out but my SO is leaving for an extended trip out of town next month so I am saving up for a splurge then. I am sure many of the older members will remember her.

Used to see her after and wish I still could. After getting into Henrico and then supposedly a rehab home about 6 months ago, I lost contact with her.

Sounds all around fishy:

1. some unknown person.

2. at some unknown place.

3. If you pay money now, you may get a call in the future.

4. In my own experience, collect calls from jail usually identify the institution and the caller.

It I'd's the caller if its a prepaid call. Like they have $$ on their books to pay for the call otherwise you have to put money on your phone if you want to talk to them. Had a ex that was locked up for couple years.

The past three days. That would be today, which is Thursday, Wednesday, & Tuesday, I have been getting a phone call from "Withheld". At about 5:00 pm each day. The phone only rings a half ring and then I get a vm. It says. "This call originated from a correctional institution. In order to receive calls please go to xxxxxxxxxx and put money on a calling plan. Blah, blah, blah. When we receive payment we will put the call through in the future. Or. Option 2 go to xxxxx and sign up, blah, blah, blah,. Or option 3. Go to xxxxx xxxxx xxxx and blah, blah, blah.

In the past I have known plenty of people who have done time and who have called me from the grey bar hotel and this automated recording sounds very authentic.

For the life of me I can't think of a provider who is doing serious time. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten the call or is this just yet another scam. ?? Thoughts?

In my experience the originating number is displayed, so having it show as blocked is a red flag to me. Granted I can't speak to every county in the Commonwealth, but it's been true for Henrico (East and West), Pamunkey, Southside, and Riverside. Also, for all DOC residents, you get a call requesting permission for inmate X to contact you before they can call you.
