To me craziest thing about Classic Cat was on Sundays you could bring your camera and take pictures of the girls. Still have the photos. Can you imagine if 1- had camera phones back then and 2- if still could do that now. Now that would be the shit. Also like Wild Horse, once in a while they would bring a few porn stars to take the stage. Remember seeing Erica Boyer there once. Yes good times.

Yes the photo Sunday's were fun. Of course that was long before everyone even had cell phones let alone cameras they carried around 24/7. Nobody had digital cameras. This was real film that had to be developed. It was funny seeing all the cameras people brought in those days. There were Polaroids, little instamatics, disposables, and then guy's with professional SLR setups with multiple lenses and filters. My friend was one of those guys. He was not a professional photographer but his job (scientist) required him to take good photos to document research, so he had some good quality professional camera equipment and he did photography as a hobby on the side as well as using it in his work. As a hobby he photographed landscapes and lots of Ocean scenes, cars, sporting events, etc. He also enjoyed going to Classic Cat on Sundays and he had a ton of photos from there.

Well in 1995, it was still Club Rose. LOL. That actually means you have never been in 939.939 opened in 2005. Sometime in between (maybe 2002-2005) it was the Penthouse Club. .

Fuck. I remember the shower shows at Femme Nu. I got in on the tail end of that. Don't know why watching girls shower was hot, considering the girls would let you finger them and suck their tits when they were dancing, but it was. I want to say Femme Nu was remodeled and lost the shower show after that guy got shot by that kid, though it's so long ago I wouldn't swear to it.

I'm pretty sure Butterfly Lounge on Keeamoku was the first place to have the shower show in the late 80's, then seemed like everybody had one. Rockza (Since they started as "Butterfly II" it would make sense that they had one) Femme Nu, Classic Cat as someone mentioned. Even Pure Platinum got into the act, (although I don't recall if they had the shower, when they were Pure Platinum, or Totally Titanium, or Deja Vu Showgirls, but they definitely had one at some point). Then of course there was Centerfolds who used their shower after their Oil Wrestling matches. There definitely was something hot about watching girls shower because they were a very popular feature of many strip clubs at least for a time.

Yeah, I remember the bar was on the left hand side when you walked in, the stage was in the middle (and maybe you're right, maybe there was more than one stage down the middle) and the booths on the right hand side.

I remember thinking that was one long-ass bar when I first started going there.

Looks like you and I were typing at the same time. Your recollections are correct, about the firepole, the ceilings, the lobby area, etc. As I said in my post, the place was completely remodeled. I actually knew someone who was working on the remodel. After club Rose closed, the place was renovated and opened as "Penthouse. " I think when it changed from Penthouse to 939 there were no real changes, (other than the sign outside) but there was definitely big changes between Rose and Penthouse.

I remember Club Rose was a pretty chill place. There were girls who came over from Femme Nu that were tired of Yuni yelling and screaming all the time (some things never change), so there were some pretty hot chicks working there. I remember Rose didn't really care about pushing drinks, so the waiters weren't bugging you every five minutes if you wanted to buy the girl a drink, but I also remember those clubs were so busy back then that drinks weren't really that big a deal anyway. Rose was one of the clubs I'd hit in the afternoon when I was done at UH for the day and wanted to kill time until the traffic died down (Femme Nu and Rock Za were the other places I'd hit up).

Two things personal stories about Club Rose: I wandered in one night and bumped into someone I went to high school with who was worked as a waiter or a bouncer. It was a couple years out of high school, but I was definitely under 21. When they getting ready for last call, the guy from my high school (we weren't friends, but we knew each other) said they were headed to Pure Platinum in Waikiki, which closed at 4. I hadn't been there because Pure Platinum was over 21, and I tagged along and got in because the management assumed I was over 21 and with the Club Rose crew. Got in that way more than a few times, at least until I finally got around to getting a fake I'd.

A couple of girls I used to hang out with who used to work the booth from Aaxtion Video, back when they'd come in from San Francisco for stints, decided they wanted to stay in Hawaii and wound up at Rose. We'd just hang out, and I remember on the rare occasion one of the waiters did ask if I wanted to buy them a drink, one of them said, "Hey, he's our friend, quit bothering us. " The guy never asked about drinks after that.

You know, I don't dislike 939, but it's not the first club I'd hit up. I dunno, the layout just reminds me way too much of the clubs in LA. The girls are hot enough, but they're all just sort of businesslike like they are at the clubs in LA and Vegas. Or maybe I'm just older and they don't want to talk to a guy who was in college when they were born.

You think so? I remember Club Rose's ceilings being a lot lower. I believe the dressing rooms were on the second floor (apparently that's the same at 939), with a pole coming down from the dressing room to the main stage by the entrance (I remember a few girls starting their set by sliding down the pole, like sexy, scantily-clad fire fighters). I don't remember them having that separate, "lobby" area where you walked into 939 and pay the cover then enter the main club. I'm pretty sure there was just an entrance, a door with a curtain, with the jukebox and ATM in that general area and the bouncer who took your cover when it was Rose. I also remember the main stage taking up the length of the club, running parallel to the bar when it was Club Rose.

I also recall they did some remodeling to add or open up the back with a bigger stage sometime in the late '90's or 2000's.

I *think* a lot of remodeling that 939 looks like now happened when it changed hands and was that club before it was 939. Don't remember the name, but it was after it was Club Rose.

Anyway, that's my recollection of the old Club Rose, may it RIP.

There's more than a few white girls at Femme Nu, though the quality's gone down considerably from its heyday. Rock Za has white girls as well, and it seems to be a little busier than Femme Nu these days.

Maybe it's time to do a strip club crawl.

I was looking at the 939 Instagram profile and it's kept more up to date than their website. Idk, it always looks like the same 3-4 girls get posted though although not complaining since they look hot. It would actually be nice to see what their rotation is like though.
