Went today. It was my first time, so I can't say if anything changed, but I can give you a run down. I got in around 1:30 and, after my eyes adjusted, I grabbed a seat at the bar. I concur with Joe: PP is not a "sex in VIP" club. Extras, at best, are FIV, pretty much.

What PP is, mostly, is a "regulars" club; you see guys who've been going there for twenty years. Tattletale used to be like that; become a regular and you kind of have the run of the stables for OTC.

I used to mostly bang the feature acts who came through there: Penthouse Pets, Hustler Honeys, pornstars and the like. It was a great place for working through a celebrity fuck list. I don't think they do feature shows anymore though (or do they? I haven't been lately).

I find the best way to approach PP is to get a stool at the far end of the second bar, way back by the wall (so the furthest point from the door); you're pretty much hidden from view below the bar at that point, so it's quite private. You can a good enough view of the stages to scope out talent. When a girl you like comes on stage, go tip her at each song (I usually tip fives because I ball like that) and chat her up a bit, check out the plumbing (if you're particular about pussies, as I am), get a feel for her; if you like her, invite her over.

Now, girls know that the guys who sit over there are sitting there for a reason. I usually prepay for dances, typically $40 (4 dances), and she can sit and chat, or dance, or whatever; again, I'm a believer in making things casual and easy, so I just say "if you hear a set you like, dance". I leverage the relative unfriendliness of the club to extras, like "I need to fuck you, but VIP here sucks. What are you doing later?" or whatever to set up an OTC. I'm pretty direct, frankly.

It's a process, and not a sure thing like Follies, but there ARE some pretty lovely girls at PP.
