Took up Juanez's advice and hit up Vaquero. Cool spot. No point on getting there before 1030 though. Dancing girls are there Thurs-Sun with "shows" at 11 and 1. Bikini dances but hey, they're dollar dances so what do you expect? For those wondering, yes, it's a hostess bar so if that's your thing, it's a good place. Hello all. This is somewhat out of area but El Paraiso in Long Beach kind of fits your description. It's a shady Mexican dive bar but I have gone in there with Caucasian friends and had no troubles but I'm a spanish speaking Latino. We've even gone with an open minded female friend. I doubt any of my friends would go without me just like I wouldn't go to the Viet coffee joints without my Asian pals. The scene during the week is mainly "ghost town" but it comes alive during the weekends. It's usually not even open until after 9pm most of the time! In my experiences, they have a mixed bag of tamale shaped imports and young, cute, out of area Latinas that make a few bucks dancing with horny guys and giving barstool lap dances in their bikinis. I'm not a regular, but have been there at least 6 in the last 2 1/2 years. Across the street you can drink some courage at Alex's Bar, a punk rock / rockabilly bar (Fangtasia to all you True Blood fans) or the legendary Joe Jost's which is one of the oldest, coolest bars in LB. I have heard stories of guys banging girls from El Paraiso but I've never tried. I did feel up a big boobed 30 dancer who gave me a good vibe. I was drunk so I don't remember what I paid. Also, I wouldn't go in here intentionally flashing a bunch of cash unless you want to get followed out upon your departure. Just use common sense and you'll be ok.
