The name of this thread is, " Rants, Raves and Opinions AKA "The Octagon" ". We rant, we race, and we voice opinion. If you were around before it was created, you'll understand that it was the desire to get political arguments out of the review threads that sparked it's creation. It's intended to be a catch all for things not hobby related.

I was around and understand the reasons for this. With that said it was born out of a necessity to bring arguments from other threads here as to not bog down a particular thread, and a place to be a catch all. At least that is my opinion. With that said arguing over republicans and democrats and which is better is a stalemate of opinions. Arguing over particular laws or policy that may effect us is not. The two parties and their followers have been at each other's throat since they were formed, nothing is going to change that. I guess ultimately there is no way to filter out the bullshit. It is tiresome trying to find the interesting posts amongst all political banter of which party is better. Oh well, in every life a little rain must fall.

Be specific on what racist comments you mean. Be specific on the what mandate you're talking about. This us a habit the GOP has. Make allegations that fire up their base, without being specific.

But if I were to guess, you want to talk about stuff that happened in the early 90's because you can't find anything more recent. Why don't we keep the discussion about things that happened in this millennium? That's 21 years of history.

Either keep the health care system as is, or make it fully universal.

I understand all of what you're saying, but what's your opinion on all of his racist comments? He also supports the mandate penalty that hurts the poor rather then just making healthcare fully universal. And also authored the crime bill that has made several states "Three strike " states which targets minorities. If you're solely comparing him to Trump OK, but in the long run those three things right there are a BIG problem.

Why doesn't the administration of this group start a forum just for political discussions. Instead of having it here amongst topics that might be related to what this forum is about. People have been arguing about politics since there have been politicians. No one is going to change their views. So start a forum or section that covers political issues and if you're interested check it out.

Thats kind of what this section is for to an extent. And politicians directly do affect the hobby. Hell, the one thing I love about AOC is that she supports decriminalizing the hobby. I'm sure A2 would moderate or ask for the political talk to stop if he has a problem with it, which those on this board who are decent definitely would stop. But if I were to bet he probably gets a kick out of this section of the forum to an extent. LOL.

He does his job and doesn't make it about himself. He pushes people to take the vaccine and doesn't make it about him. He pushes Healthcare legislation and doesn't make it about him. He will work with NATO and other alias and doesn't make it about him. When people insult him and doesn't make it about him and go on some Twitter and social media tirade like a Ritalin infused 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum in Disneyland. When he attends church service, as he does every Sunday and doesn't make it about him. When Senators like Mitch McConnell goad him into passing legislation without GOP support, and doesn't make it about him.

Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton, the other Bush, Reagan, Carter going all the way back to the founding fathers, they did their jobs and did so without making it about them like a narcissistic blow hard who has to self-praise with everything they do.

The most decent human being to occupy the White House in my lifetime was Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter was, and is, truly a good man.

I also remember the Carter years as a time of high inflation, energy crises, and weak leadership.

Now, to be fair, Carter inherited many problems. And the Tehran Hostage Crisis (which consumed the last year of his presidency) was not entirely his fault.

George W Bush was another good man (picking the other party for balance) whose presidency was, in retrospect, a disaster. He got us into two avoidable Middle East forever wars on credit, after Bill Clinton paid down the debt.

Bill Clinton, on the other hand, has always been a shifty character. I voted against him in both '92 and '96. But the Clinton years were great, in retrospect. Clinton was a fiscal conservative who paid down the debt. He was practical, not ideological.

I don't believe that Joe Biden is pure evil incarnate. I don't give two hoots in a rain barrel about his tax returns. But I am concerned that Biden is in thrall to the AOC wing of his party, and I'm very concerned about rampant inflation driven by money-printing.

Every economist knows that inflation rises when the government prints money. Today, Biden even hinted at price controls, a bad idea from the Nixon era that leads to shortages.

This is not going well so far.

For me, the question is not: who is the best person? Because the answer to that is: Jimmy Carter. The question for me is: Who will *not* screw things up too badly? And 8 months into his presidency, the Biden administration gives me cause for concern.

Although I mostly agree with you, there are a few things that you are ignoring. These first 8 months of the Biden Presidency has been consumed with righting a sinking ship. 2 things drive the Biden Administration; ending the pandemic (which conservatives seem intent on prolonging by pushing misinformation and convincing people not to get vaccinated or tested), and restarting a global and national economy whose workforce has been decimated by the pandemic.

This is very much like the first year of the Obama years. President Obama spent the first year righting the effects of global economic meltdown. It took him that year, then the economy recovered, then the economy flourished.

As you pointed out, Bush inherited a balanced budgets from Clinton, and was paying down the debt. Trump inherited from Obama a stable and upswing economy after driving unemployment from over 10% to under 4%. Biden inherited an economy in shambles. You can say Trump didn't cause it, but Biden did inherit it.

I bet you posted that without checking his tax returns. It's publicly available. How about we check all the returns of past presidents to see which ones have been avoiding paying taxes.

We know he bought a second house in the 80's for $180 k and has steadily made improvements over 30 years to increase the value. We also know he was going to sell the house to pay for his son's cancer treatment in 2017. But President Obama offered to give him the money to not sell the house. Netflix just paid the Obamas $60 million for their series so we know where that money came from.
