A guy that was twice impeached, sold his soul (and his campaign) to Putin, disparaged every group of people not old white and male, who led an insurrection against his own country and government, is too big of a baby to lose gracefully, who has been a conman his entire life - and the worst thing you believe he did was "mean tweets" Good god man, have you no shame?

I'm not going to banter back and forth. My post before this was not as complete as it maybe should have been for this academic discussion. Yes you are correct that some refineries were "idled" as it is called and have not been returned to operation. There are other refineries that were shut down for retrofit to bring up to standard that are now for sale. There are other refineries that are in process of being converted to "renewable" diesel production because of the clean energy plan that I mentioned last post. Plus there is the fact that almost all of our production facilities are geared to sweet crude conversion which creates a huge part of the problem. Hint we cannot convert most of the fracking oil we extract. It is exported, because it takes more processes to refine it.

All good points. The later especially- the "KEYSTONE PIPELINE" shouting point from the Republicans- (which IS open and running, the section that is stopped was an extension) is tar sand oil. Not going to become gasoline anyway, which is why is goes to China for heating oil.

As HL Mencken said, "for every complex problem, there is an answer that is clear, simple...... and wrong".

Now, surely we can figure out a way to generate available young escorts who are hot, skilled, and reasonably priced?

The refineries shut down due to MASSIVELY decreased demand during COVID (remember hat $1. 25 a gallon gas in April of 2020, that pulls down the "average gas price during the Trump administration they like to brag about? The to restart them and the shut down wells WOULD be expensive- and since the oil companies are making RECORD profits right now, why should they spend the money? If they laid out that much money, supply would go up and the price would drop- they'd be lucky if they made back their increased costs. This isn't just oil, BTW, its pretty much ALL manufactured products. The "lean and mean, just in time" model worked to keep prices of everything low- but there was no reserve capacity or margin for error. So now there's a shortfall, prices rise, the companies are making more than they did pre-COVID! So again, they aint going to spend a fortune to build up capacity that would be shut down once the shortfall was made up. Same issue, same process, same result- so why are you blaming Biden? It's a worldwide corporate greed issue- period.

Did you say that with a straight face? I think both parties suck we need term limits and we need to make lobbying illegal. If he made the decision to pull out troops and not destroy equipment he should be charged with treason. I would think though he only said to get them out. Not to leave billions of dollars there in which to fund terrorism. But the normalcy you think this is normal?

Today there are only 149 refineries, but they're producing 17.4 million barrels less than in 1982, but more than any year since then. The increase in efficiency is impressive, but it's not enough to meet demand: USA Oil consumption is 20.7 million barrels per day. Existing refineries have been running at or near full capacity since the mid-1990's, but are failing to meet daily consumption demands. Yet there hasn't been a new refinery built in the USA Since 1976. Why? Several factors: Building a refinery is expensive, there are a lot of environmental restrictions on where and how they can be built and nobody wants to live near one. One company, Arizona Clean Fuels, has been trying to construct a refinery in the Southwest since 1998.
