About two years ago Mei and I used to stay at Super 8's. About $70, but she would stay overnight. (Her normal accomodation at the time was a massage parlor that did not have a shower. So overnight hotel was a real treat.) I would be with her all afternoon and early evening, plus I'd return the next morning. We also did a couple pretend overnight business trips at Super 8's. Finally, I rented a cabin in the woods with fireplace and jacuzzi. Now, we have an apartment.

Yes, there are quite a few Motel 6's that are in not too bad places. The West suburban and Northwest Suburban ones are pretty good.

Regarding rates, it varies week to week. The cheapest I have seen is the Elkgrove one for $40 ($45 w taxes). If you apply the coupon code FALLPLAY at Cheaptickets.com, you get $6 off bringing the price to $34 ($39 w taxes).

I know some of their locations are at shady surroundings but some others such as Schaumburg is in a great spot and the Motel is nicer overall.

If the same deal is available at all of the Motel 6 locations I'd just do it with a pre-paid OneVanilla card and avoid any CC paper trail.

And, how long is the short stay at Summit Motel?

The only one I would recommend is the Summit Motel. Clean and cheap ($40) for a short stay.

Brer Rabbit never asked me for I. D. I've been there a lot during this summer to play. You have to fill out their guest registration card. You can write any name and address you want.

Anyone have any up-to-date insight on the Lincoln Ave motels on the north side? Which ones offer short stays, which don't? Which ones are complete trash (looking to avoid bed bugs and roaches) and which are decent?

I've used The Diplomat several times and they offer a quick stay (2-3 hrs) for $30. Rooms are not too bad and the most important thing for me is that I don't smell like smoke afterwards.
