Violating a restraining order is considered "bail jumping" and, IIRC, is a felony. Very easy to get caught up in, BTDT, just by talking to the wrong person or even having a friend contact the person that is under protection. Not that it has ever stopped a truly determined / crazed person from harming someone.

If you are bonded out and have one of those papers you sign with conditions and it says no contact then it would be bail jumping.

My ex was crazy and put a restraining order on me and I was stupid and didn't fight it. We started talking again and then she reported me to fuck me over. Bail Jumping is basically violating the terms / conditions that the court sets for the person on bail and the severity (misdemeanor / felony) is determined by what the original charges were. Then there is the chance it is from new crimes that the person commits. As an example for drunk driving, underage drinking or drugs they have absolute sobriety as a condition and ANY use is Bail Jumping.
