Someone asked why Er*s had been spared while all of the other USA sites have been shut down. Goes back to the raid on the Er*s servers in November of last year. Since this site requires all escorts who post to prove that they are over 18 by 'presenting' I'd, they can therefore claim that they prevent underage trafficking. The Feds seized all of the private information of the escorts and are going through each item of information looking for under age escorts in all states. If they find any, then Er*s can claim they acted in good faith, but are nevertheless guilty of indirectly allowing minors to post sex ads. Then presumably down they go, to join Backpage.

I suppose the Feds are trying to show that all those new laws are not actually an attack on prostitution, but a serious attempt to prevent trafficking. If they had closed down Er*s it would have seemed otherwise.

So I'm late to the VPN game and have alot to learn. Would a VPN through a non-US server solve this issue? I suppose it would require the girls to do the same and not sure how likely that is. Just asking.

VPN solves TER access but not sites that have been seized like BP. I have a few notes about it in the Useful Tools thread. Even free VPN's work. I was just looking at CL personals ads in other countries like Canada and Australia and they are going full-blast. Even the services sections are full of personal-type ads. I suspect our US neighbors up along the Canadian border are still using CL but just using the closest Canadian province city to post. Perhaps the same with southwestern states on the Mexican border.

As some of you old guys know I've been in this sport several years, 25 plus. I've seen a lot evolve, sites come and some go. Use to be the Gov. Would shut them down for tax evasion. Decent ladies with a decent donation were a click away. Now with all the junk out there you don't know what you might walk into. Before it's all said and done I'd be willing to bet this board in some form or fashion will be affected, sadly. Why the er-- site is still up surprises me. It will be interesting to see what happens to the hobbie as we know it, how crazy our gov. Will go and knowing our gov. It will be totally fucked up, no pun intended.

No need to start freaking out. There's other advertising sites out there, My provided guide adult search etc. Before BP it was CL before that it was EDC. This has been going on since the beginning of time. A website going down isn't going to stop it. As OT mentioned, there's a lot of spin-off sites as well if you need BP info. Personally, there's only a short list of ladies I would see here anyway and I have their number programed in. And as many Noggins on this website, if there was someone you wanted to see. Someone here is going to have their number. Just post and ask.

I would like to weigh-in on the new development that caused Backpage to be seized. I know a lot about the digital word and the new SESTA federal law (amends section 230 of the 1996 communication decency act). This law has the power to shut down (seize) any website that "has anything" to do with escorting. I would think they could also shut down any "sugar daddy" type website (falls under the "new" legal affiance). The only sites they can't legally touch are true dating sites.

I would like to propose an idea on how to maintain a selection of ladies. This is as far as I will talk about this idea here, please PM me for more details. I will only communicate with members that have contributed information here in the past. It's fair to say that if you have only 5 post (or less), I will not reply to you.

Let's keep the hobby alive.

I think it would be wise for senior members to have each other's email. I have a normal work email, a normal home email, and a mongering email that I keep to myself.

So we need to come up with something in the next couple weeks. Feds will take down whatever big players give them the best press coverage. But then the smaller guys like usasg will be targets.
