Interesting. Friends that I have in China said that this app has already been banned by Chinese authorities, so it's usage has been next to nill anyway, but I think this is the final nail in the coffin. Interestingly, I read elsewhere that Beijing ordered this change and not Apple. I further read that WeChat has a 98% efficacy rate for preferred usage for social media apps among Chinese anyway, so I think WhatsApp just a waste of digital space for many over there.

So Apple is deleting WhatsApp from the Apple app store in China. This is going to help mongering in the US as WhatsApp is one of those tools that Chinese based scammers use to contact potential victims to get them to send a deposit.

Lots of other scamming tools out there, but this is a step in the right direction.
