I was more referring to comments on this board by some who think he is a hero for shooting a pimp. Yes, we all hate pimps. But I am guessing this officer would have been happy to arrest any monger for doing what the officer was doing himself.

I understood exactly what you meant when you said it. And I agree. I wouldn't fault a cop for doing his job and arresting me if I'm careless enough to be caught doing something wrong. A cop breaking the laws he is sworn to uphold should be held to the same standard of prosecution as the rest of us. While he is not by any means a scumbag like a pimp, he's no hero either.

I'm old enough to remember the kind of person that society once considered a "hero". There appears to have been a drastic negative shift in overall societal morality and values since I was young. But then-that was a very long time ago. LOL!

You're assuming that this Taylor Law is something that the average citizen who has had no contact with law enforcement would know about, having no need to. I'm not a law enforcement expert, don't claim to be one and don't play one on the internet. Nor do I have a crystal ball or an ability to predict anything.

I'm offering a point of view-no more no less. Armchair quarterbacking, like everyone else who doesn't possess any inside information.

I do know that APD, TPD, CPD, SPD all have a long history of misconduct. As do some Crapital District elected officials.

My point was-we don't know yet what the charges are. And until we actually hear those charges announced-that is if he even faces any charges- anything before that is speculation.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the whole matter swept under the rug!

Honestly, I haven't been following all that closely since the initial report. I thought he was single? I know there are many other considerations but from what I had heard he was single and an Iraqi War vet. He shot a pimp but that does not mean he is a hero (as others claim on this board). I have zero doubt he would have busted any of us mongers given a chance so a bit of hypocrisy with accolades.

You're assuming he has the power to just fire someone LOL. There's a long history of APD off duty misconduct not leading to termination because they literally can't. He's protected by the Taylor Law. It has nothing to do with public relations. It's pretty clear this was self defense, he won't be charged with any sort of manslaughter. Misdemeanors and violations won't cut it from an off duty incident out of jurisdiction.

Even Officer Spratt wasn't terminated. He fucked multiple high school girls in his position as the resource officer at Watervliet High School. He even got what was in his pension.
