Just like at the auto repair shop there are add on costs for shop supplies and waste removal, so to with nuru. There is a lot of effort getting ready, getting messy and getting everything cleaned up afterwards. Not to mention real Nuru Gel is expensive while cleaning up any kind of oil all over a plastic pad would be too. Plus some pay extra just for the experience. At least my thoughts.
