If you download TOR, will that affect operation of anything else on a Mac OS Sierra system? Will it affect the operation of Safari? Not being a computer geek, I'm always paranoid about downloading new programs that could potentially fuck things up.

TOR is a just another application (browser). It should not affect anything. It is much slower than other browsers because its bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays. Just make sure its shut down completely after you use it. I'm using it on windows 10, no problems. I do run a virus scan after every use though.

The predecesor to Tee Ee are, BD, is still open for business but it hasn't had the traffic that TER has had lately. In 1999 to maybe 2004, it was the favored place to post and review, but Tee Ee are preempted it.

It pretty much is on life support, but maybe it will come back. At least, its accessible. Maybe it will be resuscitated by word of mouth, so we will have USA & BD.

There are not a lot of current posts or reviews for Mass, but some of the older links still work, such as for Queeny and others.

The most current post was yesterday on the Boston section, and the last review was Feb of this year, but only 3 or 4 reviews in 2017 posted for Ma.

TER is also hosted abroad, but US IP addresses are blocked. However, you just need to use a VPN to get access to TER or any other site hosted abroad and blocked here in the US.

A few good ones are ExpressVPN and TunnelBear VPN. Reviews on both are very positive. Not sure which one I'll try.

The prosecutors may even have trouble proving the underlying charges. My understanding is that they are executives of BP, and not actual pimps.

They would have been better off suing civilly rather than criminally.

In the early days of backpage (back when craigslist still had their adult section), they used to offer a service where a backpage employee would actually write ads for girls if they requested it. As far as I know they stopped doing that years ago, but I'd assume that's the main basis for the facilitating prostitution charge.

The problem as I understand it is the law has a retroactive clause that can be applied to cases before it become law which is why all the sites are disappearing. There is no way that this is constitutionally legal and it will get shot down once the BP case makes it to the supreme court, which it will, but it could be years before it makes it to the supreme court.

You are correct, there is indeed no way that "retroactive legislation" is constitutional. But lack of constitutionality hasn't stopped a hell of a lot, lately. But REMEMBER--its ONLY backpage that was seized--all the other were taken down by the web masters, "VOLUNTARILY". : (.
