Post in about a week or so ago as lido now is just a pile of bricks. The place directly across the street "linn" or something has been boarded up for several months. There is a movement in leydon township (of which my village is part of) to clean up heim. It's being called "mannheim moving forward" I believe. There are a lot of eye sores on that strip so the locals are finally waking up and working on some sort of clean up. I mean heim specifically is really just an up an down commercial street that is primarily used for truckers heading up to o'hare and down to the eik to feed into other expressways leaving town so it really is not residential at all. Now to the west and east of there pretty much from over the addison bridge down to lake it is very residential so I believe as others have mentioned here with the jay's shooting politics got involved. Went a quick midnight stroll to pour gas and came across an interesting sight I saw a young spinner walking from Vinn Kitchenette (look it up) I was puzzled because I knew she was a escort but couldn't find the right words to tell her hey what you doing out this late etc etc (fear or whatever is wrong with me). Anyways I noticed she went inside bought condoms and smokes typical. I finished pouring gas and drove over to check this place out where she walked to let me tell you there are def a few working girls their but can't find a single ad or anything anywhere. Well.

Was driving home from work and saw a bunch of dart boys who pulled over a black sedan in the parking lot near white castle (mannheim and grand). Not sure why he got pulled over but makes you wonder.

This is an educated guess in that it might have been a disturbance thing depending on the time. On grand going east bound on the south side of the street there is a big blue bus stop that franklin fuzz is constantly chasing the beggars away. Now given that really is franklin right there and it was indeed county it could be what you might be thinking. There has been a lot more of the walkers hanging, sleeping around there as well as a lot of boarded up windows for instance at the lido. It's hard to believe since it's not the best of strips anyway, it is imo getting worse. Just be careful for not only tom's men. I would also be looking for gang activity and robberies. Will repost in the Melrose thread as well. Just noticed the reference was on the chicago thread though.

I think that the whole Mannheim area is an area to avoid now. I would just move on. The heyday of the lingerie bars etc seems so long ago now. Basically only Carl's is left and the decent SW girls that still hang around the Mannheim strip are probably LE decoys. Just too risky and SW's were never my thing anyway.

I would steer clear of that scene in general and look elsewhere. Too big of a LE presence just waiting to bust someone and most of the girls are gone anyway. SW's are too risky anyway, too much risk of catching a bad std and you know that a lot of them have been with a ton of men. Better to just try to pick up women at bars and night clubs.

Almost the entire Mannheim strip that spans just past the bridge down to Grand has been a dead scene. Going back to when the Playpen went under there was a big dent put in the small bars and clubs where we knew a lot of the regulars. Not that the Playpen was a high society place by any means, but the couple of remaining bars on Mannheim are gatekept by the local regulars now. Mannheim used to be a great, late, post-bar-night destination, but now it's just a depressing street that should be nuked and paved, unfortunately. Playpen's gone, not even sure what happened with Jay's, and there's always a presence now at Johnny's next to the trailer park.

Not sure how Bobby's has been since the pandemic hit and I never gave much effort to Carl's (see above observation). Now and again I keep in touch with onesy twosy of the girls we hung out with up there for the last 15 years or so. Those I talk to have no idea what happened to their co-workers. Many of them have floated out of that area after the pandemic bankrupted the entire street. Anyone remember Dana? Used to hang out at the Playpen, attractive black girl, in great shape. I was driving south and took a stroll around manheim yesterday evening around 6:30 pm. Noticed a wht grl wearing black tights and orange top near fullerton and manhm (just little north on manhm). It looked TGTBT. So went around fullerton loop couple times. Second time I noticed a flashing light car with 3-4 in civilian dress and grl not to be seen. Thought some car broke down. To kill the cusriosity went around again then I saw the grl sitting in a car along with another on the side st. So looped again and now she is back on the road side. This time made eye contact and turned around again into the side st. She wouldn't come near. Felt something fishy. Again took a long loop to come around again in the opposite direction. Saw the grl talking to someone standing on the driver side. Just went around a bit into nearby gas stn and then come back see the flashing light behind the car.

Folks be careful out there. Particularly if its a new face you see.

You made the right moves and are spot on in your assessment imo. As most know I am up and down that strip just about daily and know most all of the east west side streets on both sides. That description is way too clean for that area! Lately I have seen two african american homeless guys at the lights with signs and on occasion both females and males hanging around those stop and flops on the east side of the street. Also payday after work maybe the working class guy doesn't want to go right home to the old lady and listen to her b**ch and moan so he hits a shot and a beer joint along the way, plays some slots and decides WTF I'll cruise around. And that is when dart's boys get involved. All in the name of "sex trafficking", getting these women being held against their will some psychological help, a 9 to 5 job in the straight life and of course to take those hardened criminals off the street!! So we are all safe and sound!! Oh BTW- I believe the stripper in the club really likes me and jimmy hoffa died of natural causes! Silly me. Stosh. Peace and out. Boys. Be aware though. Weather is beautiful and the walkers are not the only ones that smell money. Lawyers, court costs, fines, car impound charges with towing and it all adds up!!
