If police discover large sums of cash in the carrying out of there investigative duties, they can seize these funds, and hold them for a specific period of time. Claimants of the seizes money can petition to have the funds returned to them. The caveat is that the claimants must prove to a judge that the money seized was not obtained by illegal means.

In otherwords, the money is deemed guilty and must be proved innocent before a court of law (I'm not kidding). I doubt any of these places (or girls) have the resources to fight this seizure, and would be hard pressed to prove they were obtained legally.

If this money is not claimed in a defined period of time, law enforcement can claim it and use it as they see fit (personnel over time, new equipment, or normal day to day operational costs). Plus this incentivizes LE to make further raids to stamp out further illegal acts. Motto of the story is don't leave large sums of unaccounted money laying around.

Police raid 3 suspected prostitution dens.

Honolulu police arrested three women Friday in a sweep targeting businesses suspected of promoting prostitution.

Officers executed warrants at Hula Girl on Young Street, Kison Health Shiatsu Therapy Center on South Beretania Street and an unidentified business on Kaheka Street.

Tok Kwon, 60, was arrested and charged with ownership or operation of an illegal business and promoting prostitution. She was released on $20,000 bail.

Yoon Jung Park, 47, and Mei Ying Zhang, 31, were arrested and charged with ownership or operation of an illegal business. They were released on $50,000 bail and $100,000 bail, respectively.

Initial court appearances for each were set for Nov. 8.
