My other guess would be that you meant pre-trial diversion, a way to resolve cases that is something between the charges being dropped outright and the defendant entering a plea, the defendant meets certain conditions, maybe doing community service, paying restitution, etc, and then the charges are dismissed. This is often offered to defendants with little to no criminal history. However, this too does not apply to this gentleman, as of today, this is no indication of such an offer being made and, based on the charge, that seems very unlikely. His case is set for January 13th.
