Last guy I know did this really regretted it. He agreed to pay for one night. Somehow the gal convinced the hotel to extend it to a week. She charged a huge amount to room service, the bar and anything else she could. The hotel charged it to his credit card. What killed me was I specifically told him not to do it. Just a quick question for those who've experienced this before.

A couple of providers I've reached out to in the recent past have requested I use my donation to rent a room for them (which they would then use for the rest of the day). What's your take on this? One of the benefits of backpage, etc. Is the relative anonymity that comes with them. In the case of renting a room for a provider, however, I'd have to attach my card to the room for the day, and my name to any circumstances that may arise in said room, even though I'm no longer there. And, while I realize I may just be a bit paranoid, I've heard some disconcerting stories from the more chatty providers out there.

For those reasons I've opted out when requested (and not offered an alternative). What do you guys think?

The three P technique usually works well in most areas of life. Patience, persistence and politeness. I consider myself a regular visitor with both, but sometimes it will be months before I'm able to get to scheduled time that works for both of us. As I mentioned, both have a full life outside the hobby, and my life is not always conducive to dreams either.

Yes, there IS a "secret password", and it's very simple. Book an hour with her close friend Davina, and at the end ask her to introduce you to Charlie. I've taken wine, upon their request, to many providers over the years, and I'm not sure why you would cancel over this small thing. However, I can address a couple of known issues and how to avoid them being a problem. They are:

1) Perhaps she's under the age of legal consumption, and it would be illegal for you to provide her alcohol.

- I buy the bottle en-route, and arrive with it in it's factory-sealed condition. If she looks underage I'm going to be seeing her I. D anyway, or I walk. So simple due diligence is the order of the day. On a side note, ALWAYS have a small corkscrew as well, or you could look stupid when she wants a glass.

2) Perhaps this is a component of an LE sting, and they're waiting for the guy with the bottle / bag of wine as their signal you've arrived.

- When I visit a provider whom I do not know (at a hotel) I ALWAYS have a small piece of luggage waiting for me in my car trunk. It contains various bits of clothing and toiletry items consistent with a man who might be traveling for business purposes. I this case, there would also be an unopened bottle of wine in the bag, but no receipt for that (or any other item). While all the clothing items fit me, none of them have any identifying characteristics that would prove they (or the bag) actually belong to me. This gives me plenty of wiggle room to claim the bag as mine, OR disclaim it as "That's not my bag" (the exterior is a remarkably generic rolling carry-on).

What make the luggage gag worth it is that it's entirely unexpected of a "john" AND, since I am a just weary traveler looking for the office / front desk, it allows me to wander around a bit in my confused efforts to figure out where to check in. Not coincidentally, it affords me ample opportunity to notice who might be lingering around the parking lot, lobby, etc. Nothing blends in at a hotel like a guy who is just trying to get a room and shake off the road dust, which is actually a role I play regularly in real life. Meanwhile, if things look square and my spidey-sense isn't tingling, I can skip inquiring about a room for the night (or other "exit strategies" I'm prepared for) and stroll right past the front desk and on to to the elevators.

LE is looking for dummies. Don't be one, and you'll be fine. Pretty much from first contact right up to the end of a date I just take the necessary precautions and observe the simple rules of this game, such that I am pretty sure I haven't actually violated any laws AT ALL. I responded to a "lonely hearts" ad, met a very nice woman with whom I had almost immediate chemistry, and she did too. We wasted no time commencing to enjoy each other's company, but I am a very busy man. So we agreed we should see other again and I went on my way. Nothing is foolproof, but if you're not a fool to begin with you almost certainly will have nothing to worry about.
