Thanks you for the report. Please ignore the people attacking you for falling for this. I suspect most of them live in glass houses. There are lots of red flags that might have helped you avoid the experience but that is part of the monger learning path. Some of the posts pointing out the red flags are helpful. Others that just say "You are dumb" are stupid themselves. It is always embarrassing to admit a mistake. But, we need people to be willing to come here and share what happened. We all learn from each others discoveries. Anything that discourages sharing is the ultimate stupidity. I hope you will continue to share in the future.
BAM.
I was just sharing and appreciate everyone's response. Good and bad.
First of all, Bam is right: pay no mind to the people torching you for this. The important thing is that now you know better.
The only thing I would add to what others have mentioned here is that area codes are basically meaningless. Anyone with access to Google voice or a texting app can set up a number in pretty much any area code they please.
A local area code (513,812, 859, whatever the new one is LOL) is an encouraging sign, but it does not mean that an ad is legit. It's just a positive because most of the people running these scam ads run them across multiple cities / states, and don't have the patience and / or resources to set a local area code for every ad.
Similarly, an out-of-town area code is a cause for more scrutiny because of the above, but it does not mean that an ad is a scam. Providers travel, keep old phone numbers when they move, etc and so on.
Best advice I can give you: If they don't take cash, don't waste your time unless you can find multiple positive reports of someone using CA / Venmo whatever and getting what they want.
(Personally I don't like creating that data trail, but that's a whole different conversation).
Hi Fellow Mongers, hope all is good. Don't post much and this is a long report but it's a good one to watch out for.
This ad below has a phone # snap, then to do verification, ask you to do 20 $. It was not 200 so I said WTH.
She or he says it didn't go through. Then sends a text from another phone that comes up "cash app" - different phone # with different area code. Txt Says.
" Cashapp: For your safety we are refunding your transaction you sent to (her name) and will appear on your statement as refund".
She or he then says to you "try it again, it's fixed" honest mistake so I did it.
Again you get a txt that says the same.
It's a pretty good scam or I'm really dumb.
I know, I know, lesson learned. Still pisses me off.

Probably, most of us have been scammed one way or another by these ads. This particular ad, though, has some red flags that would have kept me far, far away from it. First, keep in mind that MOST of the ads on Listcrawler are fake. Secondly, the ads that come on real strong with very descriptive language and offering everything under the sun are usually fake. Third, this ad has an out-ot-town area code. Add those three items together and, IMO, you have a VERY dubious ad.
Most of us have not been scammed by any ads. Why? Because we RTFF!

The one on the right is Alyssa. Never seen her, outside FB or EB / LC, but texted a few times. So glad it never happened I guess. She really does have a sister who has been in the business, but I don't think that girl on the left is the sister. The sis has been a baby mama of a wannabe pimp who's operated in Price Hill and around the west side, Colerain and such for a long time -- but not sure what is relationship is with her. The whole group are people to stay away from.
If they are ripping folks off the ads will be taken down quickly making links useless. It always helps to save their pic while the ad is up and post those. Sorry about your loss, I have to say in this gun filled world of ours you're a lot braver than I, knocking on doors and arguing with their handler. Stay safe!

You are right that they took down their ads on EA. However, I found their pictures on another site so here you go!
Well guys not surprisingly I got ripped off last night by 2 sisters who advertise on EA. The first one has this ad and has gone by the name Pumpkin in the past: https://escortalligator.com.listcraw...ati/129154013. The one I actually had the most contact with was this one:
https://escortalligator.com.listcraw...ati/129269577. They have the exact same wording in their ads and this one told me they are sisters. Anyway I ignored several red flags anyone of which should have ended things, but I stupidly let the little head think for me. So I get to the first address given which is in West Price Hill so that alone should have deterred me. It turned out to be an abandoned building so I text her what's up with this? She texted me back saying she is actually in the next building over end greets me in the yard. She takes me into a basement (second red flag) and asks for the money (third red flag) and shortly afterwards runs upstairs. I then start knocking on the door and a black dude keeps saying I am trespassing and he is going to call the cops. I tell him to go ahead because I'm sure they would love to hear the story. No cops show so I call them myself just in case he filed a false trespassing report. Meanwhile he is screaming through the door that I am trespassing. He has 2 buddies from down the street tell me to leave so I pull out of his driveway and wait down the street. Still no signs of the police so I leave after a half hour. Like I said guys I was stupid and probably got what I deserved, but at least I can spare the rest of you guys the trouble.
