Hey all, sounds like the town is a bit slow this summer. Went driving through the woodlawn area today, not much out, at least nothing I was willing to try dating. A report and a comment:

What Bladtinsu said is accurate, without going into grave detail I will explain. I've been dating an entertainer that use to work at Sammy's, or should I say ex-entertainer for Sammy's she has step down to the blue-collar crowd at least until The Furnace opens just to make ends meet. Anyway, she speaks with a man we will call "P" along with various other co-owners/investors who are behind the entire Furnace mess.

To make a long story short, Bladtinsu is correct they are with the city quidelines as far as zoning is concerned they are planning a lawsuit but it will not hold water because of exactly what he mentioned about the gay bars., however they are one step away from finnally opening. They have the Liquor license as of this past week (as you may know), however the owner/mastermind (????)of The Furnace has a felony which bars him for applying or recieving the dance license ( You can not be bonded with a felony convicton on your record). This hurdle is the main one because of the waiting period of something like (or so she says) 120 days, so they are reapplying for the dance license thru some other route to avoid the hold-up on the man's felony convictions. She has spoke with them several times when we have been out, (so not to sound slezzy) but I have overheard some conversations of there's as well as what she as told me. So the short of it is around the first part of July the place should be open.

I promise guys the wait is worth it she took me by there and we walked in so she could talk with somebody, and the place looks like something from a movie. Alot of great interior structures resembles alot of kind of gothic/french (if thats possible) culture and artistic style. It is fabulous lots of mirrors, and alot like the Strip Clubs in Atlanta, if you know what I mean "VIP rooms". Much worth the wait I'm sure. If she tells me something else/definite I will let everyone know but as of now the first couple of weeks in July it should open. I will keep all of you posted.

I got bored Saturday afternoon so I went crusing came up empty for about an hour, The I spotted a WSW around 1st Ave and 70th picked her up paid $20 for a awsome BBJ she was about a 4 or 5 but solid. real nice no rush, also gave me a cell# she has a house she bought in Woodlawn we went to. Cruised through Woodlawn on my way back from out of town. During 2 passes at approx. 0400-0430, no girls were seen except for one possible bsw at the motel near 50th St. Stopped behind the hotel to walk in, since I get paranoid about taking my car inside, in case it's a sting. As soon as I parked one of Birmingham's finest was on me like Oprah on a free buffet.

June 1:
Went to Sun Spa. Got lucky on the draw and got Kimberly. Not a lot of rush on the proceedings. However she did get a little miffed when I insisted on paying what I paid pre-closedown for fs. Got full + extra manual for $ + .2 tip afterwards.

Questions:

From what i have overheard and understood the school is within the legal boundries of the ABC Control Boards limits on how far a school has to be from an establishment which serves alcohol. Therefore it isn't the city of Birmingham making them move nor the city of Homewood, it is the ABC Board enforcing the code.

Also from what I understand the Jacksons and their backers did not get the permit for a strip club wich would be a seperate permit from the private club permit they did get. After checking around I found out a strip club permit hasn't been issued (a new one) since 1994 in the city of Birmingham. There have been rumors of the city abolishing the rule they set forth in 1994 and allow new clubs to open, but being election year I don't think it will make it to the table untill 2005. But here is the loophole they can use. A private Club permit is for an after hours establishment which includes gay bars. The gay bars are allowed to have drag shows which from what I have been told amount to stripping sometimes. With this permit you could have strippers and it would be hard for the city to enforce the code because of past actions or lack of actions against stripping at gay clubs. If the city did shut them down they could sue for selective enforcement As for the ABC Board they could care a less as long as they get their money in the form of permits and taxes.

If the lawsuit the Jackson's are involved in is against the contractor then I do wish them the best. All I can say is if I built a 2.5 million dollar building and it wasn't open in time I would be more than pissed. But if they do open it will cause the city council a major pain because they will be hit with a major law suit from a couple of companies who have tried since 1994 to get the permits to operate strip clubs in Birmingham.

Needless to say this should get interesting.

I doubt that there is any way that the new school could be an issue with Sammy's having to move, as Sammy's is located and licensed in Birmingham, while the new school is located Homewood. The city is also in support of the Furnace, and I cannot think that anyone with the Jackson Family would ever have broken ground without a license in hand. What I have heard is that they are sueing the original contractor, and any delay in openning is just additional compensation that the contractor will be forced to pay.

The Furnace will never open. The city got sued because they broke the mandated law they set in 1995 that they would not issue any more permits for strip clubs. They did issue one for the Furnace for 1 day and as a result Sammy's sued them. Sammy's will have to move to their new digs on 280 next year also because the city built a school close by their location. So I doubt this new lounge will be anything besides a bar.

I do have a side note here. Last Saturday I saw 2 drop dead solid 9's on 1st in Woodlawn. They were both white and looked early to mid 20's in age. They were both gone by the time I circled back around. To be honest they looked too damn good to be true, but you never know.

Are you talking about the bar that's between the two adult book stores ? I didn't even know the old one had closed. A friend told me about it the other day as we rode by checking out the strolls. I don't frequent bars, but I have been told in the past that some of the girls that used to walk near the area there sometimes went into the old one. On a side note, I don't think this is going to be a strip club or anything, if that's what you were asking. If I were you, I'd try out the Furnace whenever it opens. They hyped it like an upscale type place you'd find in Atlanta or something back when they first started on it.

People asking in the past about the SW action might want to check on all the local areas I have mentioned lately. Girls are out a plenty.

The Sun Spa currently has one of the best girls there I've ever visited there. Kimberly is from New York. With Long black hair, she's an honest 8. She's petite, so she's not for you guys who like 'em with lots of upholstering, but otherwise she's just right. Very prettty face and a great body.
