I use TinEye ( http://tineye.com/ ) to research images. TinEye does NOT catch everything, not by a long shot. The developers claim, however, that to date, TinEye has indexed 1,096,004,617 images from the web and are adding more.

I also FireFox 3, with the Snaplinks add-on, to amp up efficiency at opening multiple URLs at a time.
