In some stings, they don't post arrests and / or photos until the operation is over. They know that smart hobbyists check public records before embarking on a mission to something or some place new, and if the sting is going to last more than a day, they often withhold the public record of those arrests until the sting operation is over, so hobbyists are not alerted.

This is a legal gray area in Florida. Different legal opinions in different judicial circuits cause different interpretations of when an arrest becomes part of the public record. When an arrest is one of many during an extended operation, and a sting operation / investigation lasts all day to several days, many LE agency consider those arrests to part of the ongoing investigation, and won't post anything until it is over. In some circuits, they've been told they can't do that. In others, they haven't been told they must. This is why you will often see several agencies from surrounding counties involved in a sting, and the sting is set up in the county that is friendly to not posting arrests and photos right away. Regardless, in due time, all arrests and photos will appear and be available. LEO's love to advertise their handiwork to show they are protecting the public. They are attention hoes for sure.

Once again, if something is new, unproven, and untested, let someone else TOFTT, or wait a three weeks. It's rare that stings last more than 10 days, usually five or less. If something new has lasted three weeks, it's highly unlikely that it's a LEO sting. Stings are expensive and time consuming to do. LE agencies don't have cops assigned to a "special sting operations unit" or similar. They use their regular street cops and plain clothes investigators to work them, either instead of their regular duties, or on overtime. Either way, those agencies get backed up when regular duties are put on hold, or use up a good part of their overtime budget on the sting. That's why stings are short and infrequent. They need to guard their overtime budget for things that may eat it all up, like a multiple homicide investigation or child abduction. You know, the crimes that really are important. Vice crime sting operations are a loss leader, but are done because it's good political advertising, not because it's a wise use of public funds.

With that said, official agency public records don't get erased until the deletion complies with the requirement of Florida Chapter 119, the public records law. Usually for minor arrests that still several years, and then they usually don't delete them, but they can if they choose to do so. When arrests and photos get deleted from non-government websites, like mugshots.com, it's because the person whose photos and arrest that was listed requested that it be removed. While technically, the commercial website doesn't have to remove it, they almost always do because it's just easier and less costly to do so, especially if the person requesting it had their charges dropped and were not convicted.

I just got a call from a good friend who was arrested in a sting near Clermont. It was in a private house but, apparently, they are operating out of a hotel, too. Also, I was told it was a fairly high tech operation with multiple computers trying to bring people in to play.

Once you bond your picture and sometimes the whole arrest is erased. Don't exactly know why but know they do it as my brother has spent time there. Hope that helps.

I saw the photo myself on the Osceola site, it was a while back.

I've seen the blank photos too, not sure what causes that.
