I never took the plunge in meeting her because her communication was very scattered. I'll chalk this up to my own mistakes but hopefully my mistakes might be beneficial for others.

I always leave the area where I pick up; especially before I have any conversation. It's a safe move, and helps deter the possibility of meeting her uncle. My understanding is that aunts prefer not to jump in cars, and certainly don't like driving any distance away from the point of pickup. If you drive away and force her uncles hand, it certainly helps if no illegal conversation has taken place. Obviously if you know the lady, caution sometimes gets thrown to the wind.
