It appears that my earlier conclusions regarding the rapid deletion of posts on Craig's List were incorrect. After some further research online, I've switched to the new theory that the flagging rules have been changed dramatically. If you've visited the Hawaii CL in the last week or so you know that any post is lucky to last more than a couple of hours. The discussions I've seen on other boards seems to have reached a consensus that flagging has become much, much easier in the erotic services areas, if not in fact automated.

Considering the stated rules of CL, it's not too surprising, especially following the "outing" of hundreds of (stupid, but otherwise innocent) guys who responded to an explicit hoax post. Craig's List official rules are that you should not post more often than every 45 days (the time when your post will expire naturally), and that anything more frequent is "spam."

I don't know if I agree, but anyone will tell you that the erotic services section of any town's CL is typically flooded with spam for camgirls, mysterious european or russian sites, phishers, and of course the most aggressive actual local providers. Personally, I like the latter -- it lets me know that a particular girl is available *now*, not that she *might* be available, since she posted two weeks ago. It's the immediacy of street action without (most of) the risks.

But as it is, if she posted more than a couple of hours ago, I won't be able to tell since her post will most likely be gone.

Anyhow, it's a free service, and still likely to attract young, inexperienced, open-minded, and horny girls experimenting with making some extra cash. Those are the ones that are the most fun, that I can have fun with.

It could be true. I went a few years ago when it had a different name, and the mama gave me a cheap looking parking pass to put on my dash. That mama back then said that if I didn't put it there I'd get towed, despite that it was around 1 or 2 at night.

If you go again, I'd ask the mama. Smart not to say anything to the guy, though.

He asked me if I had been upstairs (like I would admit to anything to a stranger). It was a bit odd, and I left uncertain whether the man was who he claimed to be. I wondered if he had been trying to break into my car. After all, there was only one other car in the parking lot (maybe the Mama's), and it was the middle of the night. Why on Earth would anyone need someone to be monitoring the parking lot at that hour?

Serious problems on CL today, and as of this evening every post on the erotic services forum from before 5 pm HST has been flagged and removed. Some person or group has taken it upon themselves to abuse the public flagging system there. This has been getting worse daily for some time now, where even the most innocuous ads for girls only offering massage with no extras are getting their posts removed.

This problem needs to be brought to the attention of the actual moderators of CL, not just the other casual posters on the CL helpdesk forum. For starters, the people there give the cold shoulder to us erotic services posters, and secondly, they can't actually do anything.

If you can, send an e-mail to abuse@craigslist.org to bring this matter to their attention. I've sent my e-mail already, but more is needed to get something done.

I bring this up because CL really is my preferred source for finding new, independent and unjaded providers. It's free, constantly updated, and has great name recognition -- perfect for the non burned-out girls who don't have pimps or other types of financial or emotional overhead. In other cities I've lived in and visited (NYC and Detroit for two) the CL erotic services section is a great resource for hobbiests who don't want to deal with escort agencies or the dangers of street action, and are looking for girls who don't have the money or motivation to post to the commercial escort sites like Eros or Exotics. It could be that way here too, if this flagging problem could be resolved.

Thank you, First Try, for bringing this up. Guys, we should all use some common sense and not mail out sensitive personal information to online personals. Any straight guy who posts or responds to posts in any online personals board should know that W4M ads follow certain rules.

1. If she sounds too wild or reckless to be real, she almost certainly isn't real.
