Five charged in online sex sting

Five suburban men were charged this week with soliciting sex through an ad St. Charles police posted at Craigslist.com.

The undercover operation began April 24 after police said they received complaints about ads on the Web site. After officers posted an ad of their own, five men responded and arranged to meet an undercover female officer at various locations in St. Charles, where they solicited her for a sex act, police said.

Authorities identified the suspects, each charged with solicitation of a sexual act, as XXXXXXXXXXXXX

The men surrendered to police between Monday and Wednesday, authorities said. All five are scheduled to appear in court May 22.

Solicitation of a sexual act is a Class B misdemeanor, police said.
