Scroll down and read the second paragraph of North's post. Think he means the East Lake Inn (I think that's the name). It's between 56th and Orient (casino) on Hillsborough (92)

I only know of one hotel in St Pete -b/c me and I will tell you as he is on the low-down with this.

I meant West on Hillsbrough....almost every motel after 41 will give you an hourly room and it is 5min from where I4 ends.

Lakeland you will hard pressed to find any. There is one more place further up 92 on the way to plant city after the one I already mentioned that will rent by the hour if it is slow.

By the way almost all of these places are harder on Friday and Saturday nights or if it is busy they don't want to give up the room even if it is a known no-tell.

So YMMV

just north of MLK, on Florida. Solid reliable source, but no personal knowledge, 20 an hour.

Hillsbourgh east where it breaks to I4- stay straight (92 I think) 2 miles up is a 24 hour motel on the right that will give you a room by the hour. Across from a bar and convience store. The rooms are so cheap, you may just want it for the night and hang out for awhile--but you get what you pay for. Ask for extra soap at the office!

If you take Hillsbourgh east when I4 endst you can go to the first motel you come to you --after business 41-- will also rent by the hour, but it is a known sw place and somewhat shady late at night.
