    1. Get passports for both you and your SO. The reason is in case you decide to take an international vacation.

    2. Passports are great for an extra ID.

    3. Your work asked you to obtain a passport to see a potential client or business trip. Plans were cancelled after you got the passport.

    4. Grow a pair and just get a passport because you've always wanted one just in case. Said the single guy that's runs away from every relationship that hints at becoming serious.

    Avoid phone issues in Tijuana

I lived in Tijuana for many years with a US cell phone. If you're having issues with the signal, I suggest you turn off the phone and turn it back on. This will reset the network. You can also toggle airplane mode off then on. Either way should do it. Also, if you have time, recalibrate your GPS before you cross into Mex.

As soon as you got out of customs you should have just jumped in a cab and said Hong Kong and you would have been fine.

How hard can it be? Cross the border on foot at either entry and there are literally dozens of taxis waiting to take you anywhere for $5 max. Tell them Hong Kong and you're there in a couple of minutes. Once you get there it's like a mini version of the Las Vegas strip for mongering.

    You'll be just fine

You'll be just fine. You can't miss the taxis. Just tell them Hong Kong. They see you're white, they will be able to guess where to take you LOL. I've gone alone consistently for a couple years and only had one issue with the police.

I'm a typical looking white dude and I speak zero Spanish. Would I be out of my league here if I caught a ride to the zona and back?

A five dollar alternative would be to use a taxi.

At least that's how it was my last visit and cross the border hop in a taxi.

I went to AltaDena's and when I was done taxi take me back five dollars each way.

So I cross the boarder and headed towards the zone. For some reason, my phone GPS has me going to Amestad and making a you-turn back to where I started. It wanted me o go through the plaza. After making a few you-turns I finally got my bearings and headed in the right direction. My phone says 15 minute walk but when I got under the bridge I realized it was more than 15 minutes so I tried an UBER only to find my UBER app disappeared somehow off my phone. So at 2:00 PM today I gave up my quest and headed back to the good old USA.

A word of advice to anyone going alone. Do your homework and be prepared.

It is easy to use google maps to find the Zona and look at the layout. Spend some time getting the feel for where things are. Then don't be a cheap ass and send 5 bucks for a taxi and you are there.

Suggestion #1: read the post immediately before yours

Do you want your first experience to be like that guy's?

    Suggestion #2).

Contact the below agencies. The first agency is run by a native English speaker; the second one by a guy who is bi-lingual. If you want a little-stress experience, ask for a senorita who speaks some English and has the menu items you desire. They can arrange to have you picked up at the border and will take care of details from there.

    The Real First Time

I first ventured into Tijuana for Super Bowl Sunday (alone). I did the walk during the daytime from the border to Zona Norte (allow about 20 - 25 minutes and stay sharp). I would not recommend doing the walk at night. Had some bomb tacos at the HK taco stand. I then ventured into Chicago at a mesero's suggestion. Decent talent but I wasn't blown away. Had a beer and ordered one for the girl I was talking to (she said she was from Cabo). Good first impression.

I returned this weekend with a friend at night and wow, I was blown away. We did a quick circuit of the block in Zona Norte. Pretty good street talent (some looked too young). But Hong Kong was a revelation. It was smaller than I expected compared to Tootsie's in Miami but wow, consistent 9's roamed everywhere. I didn't talk to anyone, just enjoyed the foam shows. One of the meseros offered us a VIP room and we bit the bullet. Two girls for $100 plus tip for a half hour. My girl was Nazaret, said she was from Tijuana but her accent was Colombian. She was talking a bit about her life and then bam, starts taking her clothes off and takes off my shirt and starts dancing. Not the best looking girl (braces) but she had a unique look which I appreciated. A couple of beers later she was sitting on my face and I was daty'ing her pussy to the max. WOW! She was clean and fresh. Definitely tell that HK girls have good hygiene habits. Mesero knocked promptly at 30 minutes.

We left HK and checked out Adelita's and Las Chavelas and Playboy (not recommended). Adelita's in my opinion did have some awesome talent but a step below hong Hong Kong. The best strip club I have ever been to!

Only negative is the 2. 5 hour drive from LA but otherwise Tijuana is heaven!
