Been going for 10+ years using either the lot behind Jack in the Box, or the one immediately to the right as you're getting off the exit. Jack in the Box usually is my go-to and has always been safe in my experience. Sometimes can be a very long walk if it's packed, but I have never heard of friends encountering issues, nor ran into problems myself. They usually have a guy at the entry / exit and one loosely patrolling around. Mostly I'm going back to my car when it's late night or very early AM. I do highly advise planning your time accordingly, since going over the allotted time is another $12 on Fri / Sat, think it's around $8 Sun-Thu. Trolley is a good option too.

There should be close to 100 street girls starting 10 AM. A lot go home after dark, fewer girls after 8.

Expired passports are not accepted for travel to other countries, but in the US, they are good proof of citizenship.

I can't recall how long it took, but I just went to the post office and sent it off for a new one last year. Process seemed quick as the new one was in the mail within a few weeks, but they may have priority options if you pay more I think.
