It is certainly a unique situation that we have here in Memphis having Madison a participant in this board. If you read through all the posts from the past years, many hobbyists from other boards have commented that it's quite unusual for this to happen. But the reason it does is because Madison is simply different.
You'll find that 95% of the girls about whom we post disappear in a matter of days or weeks. A few more will last months. But Madison has been a Memphis institution for many years.
And like anything that has been around for that long, you will find she has had her ups and downs. She also has her staunch detractors and her avid supporters. Some hate her because she can charge high prices for her great services. Some love her because she has great services albeit at high prices.
If you go back and look at the service boards like SouthernBelles you'll find a turnover rate of girls every few months (please don't lambaste me Stacie, I'm not speaking negatively about SB's, because the service they provide is usually top-notch). However, I doubt you'll find in SB's (or any service) girls who last many many years.

The best you can do for yourself is read the reviews and use your own best judgement. You may hate her, you may love her; but that's what this board is all about. She has dozens of reviews, so pick out the reviewers you trust, and use your gut feeling.

Just my two cents. You are correct some of these girls can be found and gotten cheaper whether it be on the street or whatever. But honestly you get what you pay for in most cases. You pick up a girl on the streets she is expecting to spend as little time as possible with you. You get a girl from a service or somewhere else and you are paying for more time/more company. IMHO it is a you get what you pay for (in most cases).
