Saw an ad in the F'Ville Observer and was curious.

.....Went into the AO and had a beer. Even bought some crazy $10 Ginseng drink for the girl there. Needless to say, about 2 beers and 7 more Ginseng drinks later. I finally called it quits.

The girl drank 7 Ginseng drinks in the time it took you to drink 2 beers? That's a hell of a drink hustle.....but fairly typical for bar girls.

As I don't regularly post, I am a frequent lurker. You'd think that with the consistent readings, posts and warnings that I'd know better. But last night was just one of those nights where I needed to learn the hard way.

We all strike out now and then. Keep trying, the better they get to know you, the better your chances are. Those Korean places can get real expensive, real fast.

I saw Kim again last week. Saw her on a weekend afternoon as are my normal visits. Had a very nice visit and was well serviced. As always afternoons at Carolina Square are a no hassle time.

Been reading your post for a while now and this is my first posting.

Regarding the bars on Bragg Rd. I've been to them and actually know the proprietor of these places. Although they welcome everybody (after all they do like money) they do cater to Koreans more. You will not get anything other than a conversation, some dancing and singing and very, very light wallet at the end of the evening. Don't be surprised if at the end of the evening you recieve a bill in the 300. 00 or above range which is on the low end.

As far as getting something "else" forget it. The proprietor has friends who are LEO's, there are videos cameras everywhere and thus the strict policy.

Stick to the square.

I have never been to these as i think they are only open at night. However, I met one of the owners at one of the Carolina Square bars who claimed to own one of the Fort Bragg Road bars. I think they try to cater to Koreans even to Korean Women. That may explain some of the Korean men. The Korean women come there to drink and dance..so i was told.

See my past postings about a similar experience I had several years ago, about a place across from the Best Western. The women that showed up later in the night had just got off of work and came to the bar to get a drink and do karaoke.

Given that, I don't think of Fayetteville as having a large Korean male population. No offense, but when I was stationed in Fayetteville in 98/99, it was black and white, with a little bit of a growing Hispanic population growing. Not a whole lot of Asian men strolling around. In fact the closest Asian male population would be in northern VA.

Yeah, the vibe I got was that they probably frowned upon or discouraged non-Asians in those bars on Fort Bragg Road. Not to say that something other than drinks and conversation can't be had in there, but I doubt non-Asians would get any attention.

I've been to similar "social clubs" in other cities....not the typical bar or dance-club vibe....more of the old-style social clubs where people would go to really dance and talk.

The Fayetteville area has a large-enough Asian population to support those bars, though. But every time I drive by there, there seems to be a very low customer population, which leads to speculation about other things.

Anyone know what the status is with the little hole-in-the-wall Korean bars on Fort Bragg Road (off of Bragg Blvd)? I hit them all in a row one weekend, and if they weren't empty with what appeared to be only one female (that fairly ignored me once she got me a beer after sitting there for 10 minutes), they actually had Asian men in them monopolizing the attention of the one girl in the place.

I figured these might have been some out-of-the-way gems, but doesn't seem like they measure up to Carolina Square.

Recently saw a new one Lucky 7. Her name is Kim...Mature Korean with a very nice demeanor. I will see her again! Good day time alternative

I went to Dreams about 2 weeks ago but got sidettracked by Jins tig ole bitties wasted .6 w/ the drink game then she calls some new chick by phone to take me. The chick was waaay to thick to my liking and was high too. I told her no thanks. She said ''u don't like me?'' I said i can get better thats safer and cheaper. I left there and hit dreams. Mama hits the door and tells me I told u so. Then we get down to a good hour session w/two pops. I gave 1.4 cause service was beyond gfe. It pays to be a regular. I never had 1.5 hours and a vocal gal.

I have never been much of a k-bar man. However, quite a few years ago, I had a k-bar regular. I got to know her so well, I actually spent the weekend in her apartment. This was back when I was a soldier living in the barracks. Word of advice though, be careful what personal info you share with these girls. I actually had her show up at my army unit while I was at work one day. She didn't cause any trouble, just wanted me to take her out that night to a bar. She called herself Mindy and was working at the third bar down on the right side. I got to know this girl so well, she gave me her care for the day while mine was in the shop, I spent a weekend at her apartment, had her digits, and we actually went out drinking and clubbing a few times without charge. That was quite a few years ago though. I do remember she lived at the apartment complex on Reilly road, coming from Bragg, it was on Reilly past Morganton on the right hand side. That weekend I think i met every k-bar girl in town, thy all lived in that apartment complex it seemed like. Anyway, just read the k-bar posts and remembered the good old days.

I agree about caution and sharing personal info unless you are single and want to become involved. It was still pay-for-play and nothing more than that. Just a better location privacy and I assume she did not have to kick backmoney to the club. I'm not sure how the club/K-girl $split works . In some cases I think some of the girls there are actually the proprietors and the other girls work for them. I'm sure it's a similar situation like the AMPs other than most of the K-girls at the bars were former spouses girl firends of GIs. They are just trying to make a living.
