So I was curious about this policy so I Telegrammed Andra to find out what the practice is currently. When they changed from CEC to NCE, they began requiring copies of DL or State I'd, but with sensitive info blacked out. My recollection of the process was from before they started requiring this.

I recently signed up with MCE. They do ask for DL but you can black out all the important parts besides your name and pic. Have to admit I'm not a fan of this, but don't know that it's much worse than providing Linkdin which seems to be the other default for providers.

I've only seen one person so far with MCE, but the experience was positive. I really prefer a West Suburb / Oakbrook location so keeping my eye open for high quality (MCE / Angellis) quality providers out this way. I've had very poor results with indi's so far out this way.
