I agree with you. The only one that's really questionable on my mind (but I'm not a lawyer and don't even play one on TV) is 2 A. There's some pretty easy ways to cover why you're in a particular area for a while, however it sure does give them an excuse to roust you. As you mentioned better have a good story ready. Over and above the financial costs you mentioned there are social implications for some of us as well, family, friends, employers. Agreed! I try to engage in a slight bit more small talk, too, to feel them out.
