Somerville masseuse arrested for alleged "happy ending"

Updated: Tuesday. 20 Mar 2012, 4:36 PM EDT.

    Published : Tuesday. 20 Mar 2012, 4:36 PM EDT.

SOMERVILLE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston. Com). A masseuse at a Somerville 'spa' was arrested last Tuesday after she offered an undercover cop a 'happy ending' to his massage.

A* H. 42, of New York, was charged with sexual conduct for a fee after she asked an undercover cop involved in a prostitution sting for $100 in exchange for services that went beyond the professional call of duty of a typical masseuse, reports wickedlocal. Com.

The sting occurred at Lai Lai Spa on Highland Avenue on March 13 after police received several complaints of 'happy endings' being offered to customers willing to pay for it. The building that houses the spa is also home to a day care center.

According to the site, the undercover detective made an appointment at the spa for a massage, but when he was taken into a room Han allegedly made several attempts to arouse him. The cop then asked if he could have sex with her to which H* replied 'no boom boom, ' but then offered other alternatives.

The detective used his cell phone to contact police who rushed the spa and arrested H. They confiscated the $100 and had the business shut down.

    Must you identify yourself?

    BP,

Sorry to hear about your encounter with the cops.

You did the right thing by providing your I'd, not driving away after the officer flashed his badge, and not providing further information. However, I am not sure about your above statement on identifying yourself.

If a police officer has reasonable cause to stop and interrogate you, I believe you must identify yourself if requested by that police officer. In your case, the officers were staking out the apartment of a suspected criminal, and you were observed leaving her building. Perhaps the cops were only marginally justified in stopping you, but that is another matter.

I am not an attorney, and I could be mistaken about the requirement to identify yourself. I am raising this issue because it could be a big problem if we are in your unfortunate position, and break the rules.

Glad to hear you got your phone back. It sounds like those cops were pissed off and wanted to bust your balls.

Not a sting per se, but what would you have done?

Maybe you've just started in this hobby, or perhaps you're like me and have been doing it for many years. Do you know what you would do if confronted by the police after leaving an appointment? Do you really know what you would do?

Honestly, I hadn't really thought about it that much. I had never had a police encounter; not even close, so I wasn't very concerned when I made an appointment with a provider whom I had never met before. After a few times, you get this feeling of invincibility, like nothing bad can ever happen.

I had just left an apartment building in a town right on 128. As I walking back to my car, two undercover cops approached me. In hindsight, I didn't handle it as well as I could have. As one of them approached, I realized what was happening, and I got in my car and attempted to drive off. The cop slammed his fist against my window, flashing his badge, and ordered me to park and get out, which I did.

First thing he did was ask for I'd. Note that he did not demand it, because it was not a traffic stop. He just said,"Got any I'd?" Thinking back, I did not have to give it to him, but it may have helped me in the long run by cooperating. But really, their is no requirement in Massachusetts to identify yourself to police on the street.

After I gave him my license, he asked me where I had been. Knowing my rights, I remained silent. Then the real fun started. The one who seemed to be in charge started threatening to call my wife, my kids' school and so forth. He made a call, but it was only to run my name through the CHSB (Criminal History Systems Board) for any outstanding warrants. Naturally, I had none, and no criminal history. He seemed genuinely disappointed by this.

Both he and his partner made some vague threats, lied to me, acted like they knew all the facts, lying,"We don't want you, we want her".

I finally told them that I was not going to say anything else, and that I wanted to speak with a lawyer.

It was at this point that they stole my cell phone right out of my pocket, so that I couldn't "warn her". That's right. They reached into my pocket and took my phone. Luckily, my phone was password protected, so they couldn't get anything from it. It took me a while to get it back, and it was a hassle. After they took my phone, the one in charge told me that I was free to go.

What would I have done differently? I'm glad I kept my mouth shut. I knew lying to the police is a crime, so I just didn't say anything. If I had lied, and they had caught me in a lie, they could have charged me. In hindsight I would not have acted so guilty.

Instead of ignoring them and just trying to drive away, I would have spoken with them when they approached me, and answered their initial questions without being evasive, telling them that I was just having lunch with a friend. Instead I started with,"Am I being detained, or am I free to go?" They did not like this at all.

Of course they would have asked for a name and address, and I would have had to shut them down, at which point they might have gotten nasty anyway.

It's not surprising how effective this tactic is. When they cannot use an undercover to get the SP, they try to get a customer to incriminate her by threatening him with arrest or public embarrassment. You'd be amazed how easily many customers will roll over, especially if they don't know their rights, or have something to lose.

You may think you'd be strong and tough, but it's a whole different story when it happens to you.

    Lynn bust also

I saw this a couple of weeks ago.

Lynners ran Craigslist sex business from home, police say.

LYNN — Officers with the Lynn Special Investigations arrested a Lynn woman Tuesday night after she had allegedly been performing sexual acts for money in her apartment while a young girl sat in an adjacent room.

T* V* G. 36, of 454 C* St. #2, was arraigned Wednesday in Lynn District Court on a charge of keeping a house of prostitution. She was released on $200 bail.

According to an arrest report filed on Tuesday by Officer Ross Panacopoulos, Lynn Police had received an anonymous letter indicating that G* and had just moved to the residence from her hometown of Salem and had been engaging in prostitution for some time.

Officers executed a warrant Tuesday night and walked in to find a 4-year-old girl on the computer inside. The girl's father. 43-year-old A* Q, told police he was aware of G* activities and that she was 'turning tricks to help him pay the bills. ' He said he would take his daughter into her bedroom whenever G* 'had a date. '

G* admitted to police that she was exchanging sexual acts for money in the house, saying she did not have many customers, but that the ones she did have found out about her through a Craigslist advertisement set up by Q, who was summonsed to Lynn District Court, also for keeping a house of prostitution.

Both G* and Q* denied being involved in a romantic relationship.

'Anytime sometime uses a kid or puts a kid in a criminal environment that's just wrong, ' Lynn Police Chief Kevin Coppinger said following the arrest. 'Parents need to be diligent and well-educated and to protect their children. '

Panacopoulos filed an abuse and neglect claim with the Department of Children and Families in reference to the young girl being present in the home during the instances of prostitution. The DCF declined to comment on the incident.

    Haverhill bust

If memory serves, she went by the name Candy when she was in Tewksbury, then Cindy after she moved to the place that was recently busted near Haverhill. I'd seen her at both locations. She was very cute, but the endings seemed to lack any real inspiration, as I recall.

    Stings still going on

    Thursday Morning.

Early this morning around 12:55AM, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) were on patrol conducting surveillance in plain-clothes in the arae of Dorchester Ave. And Centre St. When one of the officers was approached by a woman, whom he recognized from prior investigations. The woman approached the officer and asked the officer how he was doing. The officer answered and was then asked by the woman where he was going and the officer responded with an appropriate answer so as to not reveal his identity. The officer, believing that the woman was of unlawful design based on knowledge of the area and past interactions, then struck up a conversation with her to confirm or deny his suspicions. During the conversation, the officer inquired of the suspect if she wanted to go back to her place at which time, the suspect asked the officer if he was a police officer. The officer wanting to maintain his ruse asked the suspect if a police officer would be out on the streets walking around in the rain. The suspect answered that police officers were 'pretty tricky 'acknowledging the officers assertion that an officer would not be out in the rain walking around.

Having gotten the preliminaries over with, the suspect then agreed to engage in sexual activity with the officer in exchange for cash. Once the agreement was reached, the plain clothes officer notified other nearby officers who then responded and placed the suspect, <name removed .35 of Dorchester under arrest and charged with her Prostitution: Soliciting Sex for a Fee.

    Wednesday.

Two Arrested for Sex Offense in a Daycare Parking Lot.

Yesterday morning around 11:43am, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol in the area of Grove Hall in an unmarked car when they observed a woman walking in the area attempting to flag down passing cars.

Officers continued to monitor the woman and a short while later observed a passing car operated by a male pull onto Brunswick Street. A short while later, officers observed the same female previously observed flagging cars walk up to the car and reach into the car. Offices then saw the female get in the car and the car drive off towards Warren Street. Officers followed the car onto Warren Street and subsequently onto Elm Hill Ave. Where the car pulled into a busy park lot at 22 Elm Hill Avenue, the parking lot for the ABCD Head Start Day Care. The car, after pulling into the lot, parked along the fence where it remained. Officers then approached the car where they observed the two engaged in what appeared to be a sex act.

Officers then separated the two parties and learned that the two suspects had engaged in a sex for fee agreement.

The two suspects, <name removed .42 of Dorchester and <name removed .31 of Roxbury were both arrested and charged with Prostitution: Sex for a Fee and Open and Gross Lewdness.
