PAWTUCKET — Four women were arrested for prostitution and two men with solicitation on Thursday night following an investigation by Pawtucket Police of complaints of suspicious activity in the Barton Street area.

According to Pawtucket Police, after receiving numerous complaints regarding prostitution taking place, undercover officers were sent to the area. During the investigation, a female undercover officer was solicited for sex in exchange for money by two males. Also during the investigation, undercover male officers were solicited for sex in exchange for money by four females, police said.

The six individuals who were arrested were:L* C. 44, charged with loitering for prostitution; D* G. 38, of Cranston, charged with loitering for prostitution; L* S. 48, of Pawtucket, charged with loitering for prostitution; M* R. 33, of Pawtucket, charged with loitering for prostitution, J* R. 26, of Central Falls, charged with procurement of sexual conduct; and E* D. 27, of Central Falls, charged with soliciting from motor vehicle for indecent purposes.

All were held overnight and brought before the District Court in Providence for arraignment Friday

I personally have been to several of these "Slaves" apartments in Flushing and spent some time with them outside of the Spa's as normal people. I can tell you first hand that they live normal lifes outside the Spa's, they have bank accounts, pay taxes and do the same things you and I do as US citizens when they are not working.

Having earlier made many of the same points as you, I'm going to play a bit of Devil's Advocate now. Based on what I've read from you and others in the Mass and RI boards, I have the impression that the Flushing community you're talking about is where the Korean MP workers go. I don't have the slightest doubt that here in the Northeast. 99 and 44 hundredth percent or more of the Korean MP workers are not "slaves" in any way shape or form (I think I've read about some dubious cases out on the West Coast, but I don't know chapter and verse). But when it comes to Chinese AMP workers, and especially (like somebody else said earlier) Chinese AAMP workers, I do have more doubts. And as far as I could tell from their names and photos, the two boss women in the three Wellesley / Boston Area arrests are Chinese. So maybe their employees are Chinese too, and maybe *some* of them are closer to being "trafficked" than you or I would like.

But I still don't think it was likely they were slaves. When the INS / ICE guys do bust slave-traders, like those Mexicans who were shipping deaf-and-dumb girls up from MX to New York brothels a few years ago, they aren't shy about advertising the TRIALS and CONVICTIONS. In Waterbury and Providence not a single trial on "trafficking" or "slavery" charges, not to mention not a single conviction, was ever reported that I saw. And I read the papers really closely on this kind of stuff.

While I'm not so naive as to think trafficking does not exist rarely does it occur at "public" AMPs. Case in point: when the new law went in to effect south of us a couple of years ago, many of those "slaves" refused to come to work (did not know "slaves" had that option). No, these are just trumped up charges to make it look like LE is eradicating the world of such evil. In reality just look at how many cases of trafficking result in convictions. Very, very rare. No, it's just a huge waste of taxpayer resources while real criminals run amok out of control because it would take REAL work to stop that.

No, most of these ladies are there of their own free will albeit maybe due to need but maybe just because they like the money. More than a few even seem to enjoy themselve, too! Yes, it might not be the most glamorous profession but most are there because they choose to be and are not enslaved.

Most often "slavery" will occur at UTR places such as AAMPs where you'll notice considerably lower fees posted for services and a high turnover of girls. This, I think, is a red flag (albeit not always an indicator of trafficking) and these are the places I personally would avoid.

But an AMP? Give me a break. You are terribly misinformed and only contributing to the FUD.

I do think some slavery happens at a certain level when these girls are new to the county and have to "work" off there financial obligation, but that is a choice they made to get here and while I am sure there are some that are forced into this, there are many who started working at resto's or nail salons making minimum wages or less who found this "earning" opportunity to earn much more money and decided to do this. The URL that Oldmonger gave up there says "feds-state-seek-arrests-sex-slavery-operation"; the story itself says "officials were investigating allegations of human trafficking and prostitution"; but there is NO, ZERO, ZILCH, ZIP information ANYWHERE IN THIS STORY to indicate *where* the "allegations" came from, or *why* they should be believed. All there is, is crap like the last paragraph:

The problem is that the new laws in Mass define ALL prostitution as "Human Trafficking". Good old Martha's point of view is that no woman would actually want to do it if she wasn't being forced into it, so therefore someone must be forcing, or coercing, her into being a prostitute. So even if the women are working willingly, the law still says that they're not. I think it's insulting to all women because it implies that they are stupid and just don't know any better. Complete bullshit in the vast majority of cases in my experience. I have no doubt that it does happen, but it's not nearly as prevalent as some make it out to be. At least not around here.

A Stoughton woman was indicted today for allegedly running a prostitution ring at three spas she owned and operated, in Brockton, Canton, and Norwood.

Xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx was indicted on charges that included deriving support from prostitution, being the owner of a place of prostitution, and keeping a house of ill fame, the attorney general's office said.

'We allege that this defendant regularly arranged for sexual services to be given at the three spas she owned, ' Attorney General Martha Coakley said in a statement. 'Our office will continue to prosecute cases in which legitimate businesses serve as fronts for illegal activities. '

About a year ago, State Police and the FBI began investigating allegations of prostitution at xxxxxxxx three spas:. In Brockton. Spa in Canton, and. In Norwood. During the investigation, authorities gathered evidence that the spas were 'offering sexual activity between masseuses employed by xxxxxx and their clients in exchange for cash, ' according to Coakley's office.

In October, the Globe reported, during an undercover sting operation, xxxxxxx allegedly agreed to provide a dozen women for a men's private party.

'The defendant agreed to provide 12 different [women] to a group of men. Coming to a party at the. In Brockton on Saturday, ' prosecutor Dean Mazzone of the attorney general's office said during xxxxxxx October arraignment in Brockton District Court.

'During this investigation, the defendant told the undercover trooper that for a total price of $1, 720, she could arrange for the [women] to provide sexual services to the men at the spa. '

Xxxxxxxx pleaded not guilty in October 2011 after her initial arrest and was released on $2, 000 bail. She will be arraigned in Norfolk Superior Court at a later date.
