I wonder if that is what was happening in Richmond, Va this past week. The only ones that seemed to remain had not pictures and most were for queers. I sat for about an hour and opened in a new tab each posting of a chick with a picture just so that I had time to read and decide. The ads were flying off quicker than you could select them sometimes.

I certainly hope that does not start down here.

I've observed the same thing. When business is slow dumb ass pimps start to eliminate their competition.

As for TER being "a good source of intel"...that's exactly what is being contested.

Reviews based on extortion and payola are not what I would call "good intel." Now perhaps only a minority of the reviews are derived from this activity. But also factor in the way TER ultimately provides incentives for contributors to also send in bogus reviews.

All I know is I've posted about 20 reviews there between '01 and a few weeks ago, and all of them are "real".

And sadly, I had to pay the girl every time!

I know several other mongers who post accurate reviews there as well. By and large, I've gotten decent guidance from the site - granted, I tend to check other sources too, as I'm a cautious consumer and thorough researcher - it's certainly a useful resource.

This site is as well, it's just (i) much more low volume of traffic, so relatively few reviews and (ii) a few too many members here go for low-cost only, regardless of looks. Almost lost my lunch on a few of the photos posted the past few weeks

And you're terribly naive if you start building principles and setting your moral compass based on their accounts of wrongdoings. There's more than enough wrong to go around in what we do...And to decide to avoid a good source of intel because someone is taking advantage of prostitutes, is ludicrous.

You're missing the point. I'm not willing to reject correlated independent reports just because they are made by prostitutes. Especially when the same reports are made by non-prostitutes who have little to gain by doing so. I set my own moral compass, but I do so based on the best available data.

Not being able to tell which is which, and also having reviews about good prostitutes being erased because the women won't play along, poisons the entire well. Every review is potentially bogus so at that point you're just playing the odds...which is exactly what a review site is supposed to minimize not amplify.

Not all boards are alike in this regard. From what I've seen Jackson here tries to minimize the potential for bogus reviews. Dave, on the other hand, actively promotes bogus reviews.

When you start using words like "rape" and "high crimes" to define what supposedly take place, it certainly does appear that your ability to make ethical judgments is quite diminished. If you truly think that a guy who demands services from a woman for exposure to keep selling pussy; is more devious than a guy who manipulates, forces, and abuses a woman for years on end so HE can profit from her selling pussy - we can call your logic severely flawed.

Your original point, the one I was addressing, was that if one chooses to not use TER because of the extortion and bribery there, one also shouldn't see sex workers at all because some of them are abused by pimps.

My reply is that:

(1) I know what is going on at TER, and there is no doubt to the partial complicity when one supports that site.

(2) In contrast to that most sex workers are not forced into the business by a pimp, but rather make an independent choice to do so.

(3) There are even some who have made an independent choice to work for a pimp.

(4) And if you keep your eyes open it's pretty clear which is which.

(5) The bottom line is unlike Dave at TER I don't offer these women an unwanted transaction. They want me to buy their services. They don't, however, want Dave to extort their services.

Again, I'm no saint, but there is a meaningful difference between supporting a known extortionist, and supporting sex work which is freely chosen.

I make a good faith effort to only see women who have not been enslaved through abuse, just as I make a good faith effort to avoid boards run by abusive operators like Dave of TER.

Given the tone of your posts it's not clear to me that you do either.
