Yeah a buddy contacted them. 1 2 or three girls attend the party, you have to "help" with the cost of the room. Lots of strict rules. Screw up and you get banned. Note that the party is only 2 hours long, so if there are a bunch of guys you are going to need to get on, get-off, and get out of the way. PHILADELPHIA — A 65-year-old Feasterville man has been charged in connection with running a prostitution ring inside a Mummers clubhouse in South Philadelphia.

Lawrence XXXXXXXX, of the unit block of Fourth Street, was charged with promoting prostitution, conspiracy and unlawful sales of liquor, according to court documents.

He is awaiting a preliminary hearing on the charges in Philadelphia. He was released on his own recognizance, court records show.

Police were led to the operation at the clubhouse of the Downtowners Fancy Brigade by an anonymous tip.

It is charged that XXXXXXXX got the women for Tuesday night events.

The Courier Times was unsuccessful in contacting XXXXXXXX for comment.

Several neighbors on his quiet Feasterville street said Wednesday they never heard of him. A Lower Southampton police official also said he never heard of XXXXXXXX.

Following a six-week undercover investigation, Philadelphia police went to the clubhouse Tuesday night. They were told by a tipster that prostitutes were at the clubhouse on the second Tuesday of every month, according to the Associated Press.

When undercover officers arrived, they paid a $30 cover charge for beer and other food and found 50 to 60 men and about 15 to 20 women inside. Many of the women were naked and performing sex acts, the undercover cops told Philadelphia Deputy Police Commissioner William Blackburn.

The undercover officers were offered sex for money and sex acts were being performed in public view, police said. The women were charging between $30 and $100 for each act, police added.

Police raided the club and seized more than $4,000 in cash and about 1,500 containers of beer and liquor, according to court documents.

Two other men arrested, Alfred XXXXXXXX. 44, and John XXXXXXXX. 56, are club officials, police said. Police identified XXXXXXXX as a steward and XXXXXXXX as a financial secretary.

Police said the club does not have a liquor license and added both men face liquor violations and criminal conspiracy, similar to XXXXXXXX.

Meanwhile. 10 women were charged with prostitution, police said.

In a statement, the Philadelphia Mummers Association said it was shocked and denied any connection to the alleged prostitution ring.

'This was not a Mummers' prostitution rings nor a Downtowners Fancy Brigade prostitution rings, ' according to the statement. The statement went on to say officials were 'shocked' by the alleged behavior of the group that rented out the club.

'If the allegations are true, the Mummers and the Downtowners organization are as much victims of this as anyone, ' according to the statement.

The annual Mummers Parade, often called Philadelphia's Mardi Gras, is a century-old Philadelphia tradition in which costumed revelers March through the city every New Year's Day

New Mongers and out-of-towners might get a false sense of security driving behind the wheel. A car makes covering the distance of the avenue easier but not safer. Personally I like getting out and walking among the girls. When walking I can hand pick my date. Also, LE is less of a problem for a pedestrian. If I am stopped while walking, I need only show I'd and keep quiet. My car is not in danger of being searched and confiscated.

But, You are right, I wouldn't recommend walking for the faint of heart. I suggest doing a recon and get the lay of the land, before talking a stroll.

Cookie.your a smart.street wise guy. This post started with someone (not from Philadelphia) coming to town on business wanting to walk the ave for a date. That is the reason to "rent a car". Any 4+ wheeled vehicle would work. When I bought my work truck (f150) I almost bought a van instead. Wouldn't take much to make it nicer then the Carlisle.

I actually saw a semi truck circling the block to get a date. And that was a 53 footer.

There was a News report, earlier today, about a victim who was shot in his car and drove to the hospital were he died. I have heard of guys who got robbed in their car. I have heard of guys who got robbed at their hotel after driving there with a girl. Guys get robbed at gun point during car dates in back lots. Unless the car is bullet proof, or comes with an armed guard, I don't see where it, by itself, is a lot of protection. In fact, you may be worst off, if you let yourself be lured into a sense of false safety, believing you don't have to be alert because you've rented a car.

FYI: Guys who grew-up in the hood, lived there all their life and know the streets get killed every day.

Whether On foot, driving a tank or ordering out, your best defense/protection is a alert mind.

People from the burbs that think they are tough ain't crap to the people that are here. They are silly to think the girls want to have great sex and collect money. Some do but which ones are they. They don't understand some of these folks will cause them harm for 10 dollars. They don't understand dope sick. These people live in a completely different world.

You totally need to keep your shit together or you will get hurt. This needs to be the one thing to get across here. F. Up or meet the wrong person and you can die. No bones about it. I mean dead! You life can be worth the value of your watch to someone. Someone did steal the watch off a guy dying in the emergency room.

Have I been mugged. No, but very close. (guns pulled the whole deal) and it was in a car, them banging on the windows. Thank god the car started and I'm quick thinking. I was a statistic ready to be recorded. I have had girls take the cash and run, wallet cleaned out while sucking my the, bullshit dates. All of it. I've learned a lot from the school of hard knocks.

Unless you know the person you must always keep you stuff together. Some girls are sweet hearts but without knowing how can you tell them from the one that just wants to steal whatever you got. Including your car.

My advice to anyone (visitor to philly from out of town) that wants to experience the ave. Rent a cheap car. Get a GPS so you don't get too lost.

Go to a hotel. When you learn and understand the Ave. Venture out. Meet a few girls, get a few digits then take some chances.

Have a good time just be safe. Again people die for being stupid, just be smart. Trust no-one (not even myself).
