Enablers
We are not enablers. We pay for what we want. That's what they do. What they do with what we give them is their business. Don't think too much about a date that is beneficial to us.

95% sounds right

When I see a girl I recognize 95% of the time its for drug possession. The rest of the 5% is prostitution and maintain bawdy place.

Imo, mongers are no more an "enabler" than any person's employer. The drug dealer is the enabler.

Then they get released but have nowhere to go and wind up right back where they were doing the same things as before because they have no other options.
Henrico and Chesterfield are starting to tackle this with programs thanks largely to the work of John Shinholser (sp?) and the McShin foundation. I don't think Richmond is near as far along though and it doesn't seem like Hanover has a big enough problem to even address it. I have heard too that Henrico and Chesterfield are building prisons specifically for addicts with abuse specialists on staff.
If I'm not mistaken Ccshinn cost a pretty penny and most of these girls don't have that kind of bread or someone who is willing to risk it. There are several sober living programs throughout Richmond Chesterfield but unless you have the upfront $ you ain't getting a bed. I have a son who was in willingness house in Henrico who is Mcshinn brother I believe. These are for profit places not saying they don't work but just kind of out of reach for most addicts with little help. Be safe.

In recovery terminology we are "enablers" in the addict's life. Although there will always be mongers. It is the oldest product with a price tag after all, so I don't think we need to feel bad about that. Unless ofcourse you actively encourage drug use in someone who is trying to get out for your own personal gain. In that case you suck.
As far as why, what I have found more often than not is they use drugs to block the pain of other mental health issues or trauma and then turn to prostitution to pay for the drugs. Keep in mind that there are girls with no addiction issues that do this.

Believe you hit it right on the head hotrod. I'm a firm believer in that we aid in supporting their habit however if it weren't for us violent crimes would skyrocket. Those with a substance abuse problem, specifically narcotics, would certainly do whatever it took to acquire that next fix. There was a question posed on here the other day inquiring as to the ratio these girls get picked up by LE for narcotics vs. Prostitution. I'd venture to say the numbers are somewhere around 85 to 90% drugs! It's definitely a vicious cycle for these girls. I've experienced it within my own family. Thankfully the outcome was good but that's rare.

What part do we play in this cycle?

This. You can search the arrests by type and by far, these ladies get picked up on possession.

We hear all the time these girls go on "vacation".
Do they mostly go in due to drug use or for the hobby?
Yea. Possession, prostitution, bawdy place, and every other charge.

Very sad saw her once while while ago. Nice girl. Not sure if drugs were involved but a lot of times after being clean then using puts your risk so much greater. Sucks my heart goes out out to friends family and anybody that knew her. Stay safe.

Tolerance dropped but they take same large amount they were used to before they went in. Happens often.
