I will be traveling that direction also. After Madison I will be heading to the Cleveland area. Looks like my GPS is saying to take 90 which looks like it goes right through Chicago area.

558 has a table shower. I've used this service when coming directly from work on occasion. It's usually all business here, no real tease.

I know that, at Princeton Club, you can get a day pass for $20 which allows you full access to the entire facility. Workout, swim, steam, sauna, whirlpool, showers (at least under non-Covid conditions). Sorry, can't help you with any current restrictions at this time. Various options may differ at each of their locations too.

I've been told that some gyms will give you a one day gym pass and you could use their showers as well as have a place to hang out for a bit. Never done it myself since I had no need but someone I met who is nomadic and doesn't have a home per se told me this.

The TA truck stop by Hwy 51 and the interstate has decent showers. I think that it's about $15 or so.
