Dar: The official BBBJ and FS Asian places in Manhattan charge $200. Usually Korean. You'll find them advertising on Craigslist erotic services or in the freebie papers New York Press and Village Voice and in New York Magazine. I checked DAR out in the ISG and he does indeed have many good informative posts in China and other East Asia forums. In my last report I neglected to pass on a tip I learned from reading some Mighty Spearsman posts. If you are going to a place that is HJ only but you think you might be able to talk an individual provider into further services, bring your own condoms. AMPs can be very careful. Hi guys,

Saw an ad in one of these free NY newspapers. Sun Spa. 60 West 39, between 5th and 6th, 2nd floor. I went in with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. There is no spa sign that is visible from the street. But there is a Sun Nails sign. Greeted by average looking petite asian female. Told price was $60. There was a menu that listed several options that were from $60 to $100 range. I do not recall everything listed, but they all seem to include massage and TS. Surprise #1: TS was very good. Surprise #2: Massage was great. Surprise #3: Happy finish was supplied without any hassle or asking.

Tipped $40. On the way out was told to always call before coming and not just show up.

Bad point was that there is some kind of Karate studio above the spa. They made a LOT of noise.

It could not be in a better location, literally a stone's throw from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. It apparently opens at 10. After wandering around midtown a bit, I returned about 10:40AM. A Japanese girl was coming down the sidewalk and she followed me in. I couldn't tell if she was a masseuse. Chinese Massage Parlors and Korean Massage Parlors are both classified as Asian Massage Parlors, but they are as different as night and day. You will always get a great massage at a Chinese MP, usually at a Korean MP, but that is about where the similarity ends.

I've been at Korean MPs where no table shower was given, or no massage (though both were on the menu). The girls will often be ready from the start to do everything. The full package at the 20 or so different Korean Massage Parlors I've tried in 3 states runs $140 to $200. (Half of these were in Waterbury, Connecticut). The most distinctive trait of the Korean Massage Parlor is probably the table shower (which feels great, thoroughly disinfects you, and lets the girl examine you for outward signs of STDs etc.). The sign outside may say sauna, accupressure, massage, or just the name of the establishment. Although a Korean MP will have Korean ownership, management, and girls (with a few exceptions) the name might be Chinese (like "Hong Kong"), Japanese (like "Tokyo"), or general "Asian," or "Oriental."

A fellow member has written that at a tuina place [a Chinese Massage Parlor] you never know what you're going to get. This isn't quite true. You can always expect a legitimate establishment giving a great massage. At the most upscale places you will find posh quarters, high prices, and all you will take off may be your shoes. I suspect this is adaptation to prudish western traditions. The literature of one place even states that "proper draping" in accordance with "Christian" values is practiced. In fact there are respectable Christian nudists, swingers, and non celibate singles. And the USA does not have a state religion anyway.

At both the upscale and "normal" Chinese massage parlors the sign may say Tui na (or variants Tuina, Tui-Na, Tyi Na) or Qi Gong (variants Quigong, Chi Kung). A regular place might offer the prosaic "Chinese Back Rub." A shower is usually not included though you might find a regular shower. Curtains or flimsy folding doors will offer a modicum of privacy. I believe it is customary to get fully undressed and that nudity is not a big deal (though I could use more experience). You start out lying face down. A pole or parallel poles might be attached to the ceiling so the girl may walk on your back. A hard massage seems to be the norm, whether very firm stroking or grasping, or vigorously pushing pressure points. Less time is spent on the front and it may or may not include HJ. Don't expect FS. The masseuse will usually remain fully dressed in unrevealing clothes. She might do the massage through a towel or only uncover what bodypart she is currently working on.

At one place the girl asked for $80 upfront "for just a massage." Other places I've paid at the end. I've seen ads for $7 for 10 minutes. The price for an hour usually seems to run $40 to $60. I don't think there is a standard tip expectation. Some places don't seem to expect a tip, others definitely do. If you give a tip equal to the house fee you probably won't be undertipping. More input/research is neded here.

The current free New York Press (there is a print or an online version) has 4 ads for places in the immediate vicinity of Chinatown. One is the place I tried on the Lower East End. Craigslist (CL) online lists 2 places actually in Chinatown. One emphasizes massage by a male masseur, but I believe they have a female one as well. There are probably dozens of additional places in or in the immediate vicinity of Chinatown.
