I've usually gone as a couple but a few times as a single male. If you're respectful to the husband of the couple your chances will improve. Bring a nice bottle of something for sharing to keep at the bar. Ask permission first and you may be lucky. Don't act desperate and you should at the very least meet some nice folks. Be aware it's an older crowd and not all of them are the attractive couples and single females you're looking for.

I always found the clubs to be a better option than the sites. You're not going to get many hits if you're trying to preserve some semblance of anonymity regardless of what you're after.

As long as you're decent looking, spark actual conversations with people, and don't just follow them around silently, you can get a solidvl batting average at the clubs.

Then you can use these resources as a fallback if a night goes bust.
