I've also noticed this, and I believe its the phone providers cracking down on it. I go into my settings and turn the VPN on it'll load like normal, but to click a skip the games link you have to turn it off because skip the games doesn't like VPN's.

I've noticed for myself that unless I'm connected to WiFi it will not load anymore. Never have a problem when on WiFi though.

Same issue, iPhone with Xfinity.

Infamous Wayland house had cameras that looked like phone chargers all over the house. Thats one reason he is doing 3. 5 in the big house.
